I went to a guys house today to check out his outrun uprigh that was rebooting and reporting bad motor. The bad motor error was caused because the dipswitch settings were for a sitdown, and he had an upright. Once i switched dips to upright, it stopped the error, however, now it starts the game normally with a bit of garbled graphics, then reboots.

When in test mode, the game is stable however the background of the testmode has garbled graphics, although the test looks fine. I've adjusted the power supply to exactly +5v. The test mode reports all of the eproms "Good", i pulled every epr/mpr/opr and verified them with the mame set + rev A (which is what this board is), and they all verified okay. I've reseated all the the chips. All the tests report fine in test mode.

I have it hooked up to my test bench right now, and its doing the same thing...

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Below is a picture of the start with garbled, and a link to a video of what it looks like when rebooting.

Looks like it was bad EPROMs. Swapping IC58 and IC76 for good ones fixed it for me. Curiously only IC76 showed up as bad on the diagnostic test.

I know this is an old thread, but I got a similar issue. Well... Doesn't blink like he's video, mine plays just that the graphics artifact and are reddish colorin. Is there anywhere where I can buy these EPROMs? Or have to get a non working board and hope for the best?

Also, thank you for the update and taking your time to post.
