Repro OutRun Map Decals, Stripe Art, and Wheel Badges - Cheap pricing!

UPDATE 7: Great news! The clear acrylic mounting discs arrived today and turned out perfectly sized! Everyone with a pending order will be contacted via PM by the end of today. And anyone interested in placing a new order, feel free to PM me with what you need. I currently have several maps available and lots of wheel badges+mounting discs. I'll be out of red stripes after today, but I'll be placing an order for more of those shortly. So if you need one, go ahead and PM me so I have your request accounted for in the pipeline. Thanks all!

PRICES FOR CURRENTLY AVAILABLE PIECES

Map Decal - $11
Stripe Art - $18 (currently all spoken for; next run ordered)
Wheel Badge Sticker - $7
Clear acrylic mounting circle for Wheel Badge Sticker - $1

SHIPPING

Shipping for any package including one or more Map Decal and/or Stripe Art - $7 (Wheel Badges and/or acrylic circles added to order will not increase shipping cost)

Shipping for only the Wheel Badge sticker - $2 (Acrylic circle can be included for no additional shipping charge once available)

UPDATE 6: The wheel badge stickers are now available at a price of $7!! (No additional shipping when added to an order, $2 shipping if ordered alone or with a mounting circle once they are available.) Check near the end of this thread for pictures. Mounting circles for the wheel badges are still pending, but if you don't need those, then I can send out order for map decals, stripe art, and wheel badges right away. Of course, I do need to also order another run of the stripe art as all currently printed pieces have been claimed. Those should be in by the end of next week assuming my printer isn't overwhelmed by end of year/start of year work. Also, I'm currently working with him to price full Upright Deluxe cabinet side art sets. Please PM me if you're interested in any of the pieces I currently have on hand or if you might be interested in future pieces we're working on (side art, oval logo, etc.).

UPDATE 5: I've now picked up run 3 of the map decal as well as the first run of the red/white stripe art for the lower front of the cabinet. Wheel badge stickers should be in by the end of this week, although the Wheel Badge aluminum mounting circles do not yet have a definite delivery date. Read the posts towards the end of this thread for the latest updates. I'll probably be creating another thread soon so more people are aware that it's not just the map decal available now.

UPDATE 4: Made it out to the printer's to pick up the second run today, so I now have them in hand and ready to ship out. I'll contact everyone in the order they're showing in the thread below combined with my PM Inbox, so be on the lookout. Some people have requested 2, but I plan on going through the full list of people who've inquired once. And then if I have any left over, I'll tack a second map on for those who wanted one starting with the first and then onward. Thanks much, everyone!

UPDATE 3: Checked back with my printer today, and he said the next run of map decals will be ready tomorrow. However, due to my schedule I'll be unable to pick them up until Monday. Once I have them in hand, I'll start communicating with those on the list who have expressed interest in the next batch and start nailing down who gets what shipped where. Also please note that for the next batch I'll need to charge $18 shipped for 1 map, although additional maps in the same order will still just be $11. This is because, after slightly-higher-than-expected shipping and the PayPal tax ($0.80 on a payment of $17), I actually ended up losing about $6 from the first batch. It's not much, but if anyone who has previously said they wanted in on the second run changes their mind, I totally understand. Thanks!

Hello KLOV friends!

I've not been here on KLOV long as I only recently started adding the odd arcade to my games collection, but I'm loving the helpful camaraderie you all have going on over here. Such a great and supportive community!

So the second cabinet I picked up was one of my all-time favorites: the OutRun Upright Deluxe. It was rough, though--has needed lots of love both technically and on the exterior to get it to where it is today. (Mostly running great; just needs some fixes to the sound and shaker motor.) One of the exterior touches I was needing was the map that sticks to the shroud between the wheel and monitor. The one on the cabinet when I received it was scratched all to heck and back (see pic):

I hated to just remove it and leave that empty space, but I also didn't want to pay $80 for a replacement. So I found a local printer who agreed to help me out and, using some digital scans I found, printed out some replacement art for me. But he couldn't afford to set everything up and do just one--he needed me to agree to a run of at least 10 to make it worth his while. So in the interest of getting my beloved OutRun cabinet back to its former glory, I agreed and the order was placed.

Well I just picked it up yesterday, and it turned out better than I could have ever hoped:

They're printed on matte finish 3M ScotchCal adhesive-backed film, which as far as I can tell feels identical to the material used for most arcade control panel overlays. It's scratch resistant, spill resistant, and fade resistant, and looks absolutely gorgeous. What's more, the material "breathes" (as the printer put it), so you don't have to struggle with bubbles when applying it to the aluminum plate (or directly to the shroud if you prefer). I've already got it installed on my cabinet, and the results speak for themselves:

The map plate before:

And the map plate after:

And here it is happily re-attached to my cabinet:

The decals are pre-cut, but with a little extra white border around the edges so you have a bit of a margin for error when applying it to the aluminum plate.

The way I installed mine was, I pulled the decal backing halfway off, cut it straight across (so there was a clean split near the middle of the backing), then put the backing back into place. I then positioned the decal over my aluminum plate and used a strong light in the background to get it lined up where I wanted. Then I taped one half of the decal into place on the plate and removed the other half's backing starting from the middle, pressing the decal onto the plate as I went. Once that half was applied, I then removed the tape from the other side and repeated the process, carefully removing the backing and pressing it to the plate as I went. Once it was fully attached, I went around the edges with a fresh razor blade, removing the excess white border. Turned out perfect!

At any rate, I now have 9 more of these, which is at least 8 more than I need. (Figured I'd keep around one extra in the event of tragedy.) So for those 8 extras, I want to share the love with you guys. I like the way everyone here helps each other out, and I want to get in on that as well. These cost me a bit over $10 each to print, and I expect shipping (packaging + cost) to come out to around $5 for the lower 48 states. So if I can sell these for $17 shipped for one (and $11 for each additional), that should cover my cost + the shipping + the gas to the post office. (Note that if you live in Alaska, Hawaii, or outside the U.S., I expect shipping will be a bit more. If you're still interested in buying one though, PM me with your location and I'll come up with an estimate.)

Keep in mind that this is ONLY for the decal itself, and does NOT include the aluminum plate. You'll need to either re-use your existing one, or if you prefer, you can always affix the decal directly to the shroud. In my case, I didn't even bother completely removing the existing decal from the aluminum plate; just made sure it was nice and flat and placed the new decal right over the top.

So if you're interested in getting one or more of these, PM me with your info and we can work out how many you'd like to buy, where to ship, etc.. Note that, for the sake of simplicity, I only plan on accepting payment via PayPal for now. But if you don't/can't use PayPal and still really want one, let me know and I might can make an exception.

As for references, I don't have that many posts here on KLOV yet. But I am pretty well known over at AtariAge (here's my feedback thread on that forum), and I also have 100% positive feedback on eBay here. (Mostly buying, but I've sold several items on there as well.)

Oh, and for what it's worth, I'm one of the admins over on gaming news website EvilAvatar.com. (Just don't hold that against me. :) )

First come, first serve, and I won't hesitate in the slightest to sell up to 3 to any one person. But if you want more than that, let me wait a couple days to make sure no one else needs them before selling you 4 or more. (Want to give everyone that might need one a chance to grab at least one.)

Thanks!

you sir will make a killing off those...I think the demand is high. I just found one from a member a couple months back so I don't need one but I had a hell of a time finding one. That looks NICE!

I've got to be honest, I can't believe they aren't more readily available. I mean, it seems like there's quite a bit of demand for specialty art like this, and the overhead for printing them isn't that much. I mean, sure--if someone's doing it for profit, they're obviously going to be charging more than cost+shipping. But even if I had found the art I needed for $25, I wouldn't have gone to the bother of trying to get some printed myself. But $80?? That was just too much, even if I had the money. I may try to see if I can get him to give me a good deal on some other pieces of art I'm needing: shifter decal for both my OutRun and my Speed Buggy, wheel badges for OutRun and Speed Buggy, and also the "5 Tracks" sticker for Speed Buggy (the ones on mine are badly faded). But if someone has some particular artwork that's in high demand and isn't widely available, let me know. If I can get a high-resolution scan (or if it's fairly easily reproducible in Paint.NET), then I can get some prices together. It's one of those deals where, the more I have to print, the better a price I can get.

7 paid for, 1 pending payment. Will post an update if that one doesn't go through.

That being said, if enough people still want them that don't have them, let me know and I'll see if my printer can do another run. Would need to get at least 10 people to commit, and I'd be happy to still sell them at cost+shipping+gas money. :)
