I just bought a OutRun cabinet with a broken monitor chassis.
I replaced the broken Hantarex chassis with this Chinese one: http://www.grebo.eu/arcadegames/shop/images/prodimages/chassis_14-20.jpg with the help of this guide: http://arcade.oxidy.com/info.asp?key=MTC900TO688

now the game at least shows something on the monitor, but it does not look good:

and as you can hear, the sound is really messed up:

the weird thing is that the messed up sound only happens maybe every other time i put on the game, sometimes it's just silent.

also, the game doesn't seem to react on input, when I step on the gas pedal the car wont move.

when I remove the power to the monitor the game sounds like this:

sounds like it should, right?

I have removed the pcb and pressed on all the seated chips and checked all connections..

anyone have some tips on where to start to resolve these issues?

exactly where on the board should I check the voltages?
I have no problem checking the voltage on a normal JAMMA pcb, but on this one with it's special connections I really have no idea on where to check..

Check at the chips on the board.

Those "special" connectors have a tendency to oxidize and when that happens they will burn themselves up and you won't have the proper voltage on the board.

On one I used to have, I replaced a burnt connector with some wire and a 2 position heavy-duty Molex connector placed in-line.

adjusted the 5volt so that it's now 5,06v and now the graphic problems are gone.

but now I have another problem.
the game reacts almost not at all when you step on the gas pedal and when you turn the steering wheel. if you press very little on the gas pedal it reacts a little bit. but when you put the pedal to the metal nothing happens. it also turns by itself to the left all the time, and it wont react at all when you steer to the right.
what to do?

I have a movie here on how it behaves: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJaebcwxgkg

Well for the pedal, it could be a bad pot. And for the steering, is your steering wheel snap back and is straight when you let go? If not, you may need new centering springs. I dont remember if there is pots for the steering wheel. I havent had mine off in a while.

EDIT, there is a pot that may be bad on your steering wheel as well. You do any diagnostics through the menu?
EDIT #2 Make sure your steering gears arent cracked broken or even missing.

yeah, I have replaced the centering springs with two NOS ones, so that's not the problem.

yeah, I've run the input diagnostics, and it looks a bit weird as the numbers seems to move all over the place.
I'll make a video of it and post later.

well, I spent all night yesterday trying to adjust the pots and actually made some progress. but it's not ok yet.
now I'm able to steer to the right, but only if you turn the steering wheel a little bit. if you turn it to the right more than 10-15 degrees the car will start steering to the left.
when turning to the left there is no problems, then you can turn the steering wheel all the way and the car will turn left all the time.

the gas pedal is also behaving strange. you have to press really gently on it to get the car to move forward. if you press to hard on the gas pedal the car will stop moving. it's like there are only certain areas where to pot will react to the pressing of the gas pedal.

is this a sign that the pots are bad or what?
