My Outrun was fine until I moved a few weekends ago (famous last words, right?). Now, I'm getting weird graphics issues...

...but everything tests out as good?

I haven't tried ANYTHING yet. Wondering if anyone had experienced this? Any ideas?

No experience with that game, but make sure that something OBVIOUS isn't loose, or that something didn't get unplugged slightly when you moved it.....
Make sure that the PCB is getting the proper 5.XX? volts it should be getting at the PCB/edge connecting. Other than that, I'd reset the socketed chips....
Sounds "Move" related to me, and that is usually something coming lose????

Yeah, I'll be out of town this weekend but was swapping a monitor in another game the other night so I wanted to take pics when I had it turned on. I'll report back once I clean/reseat everything.

Jow,

Did you ever figure this out? I moved my outrun board from one cabinet to another and was seeing this exact same thing.... The next time I powered it on all the extra graphics are gone (All the fuzzy stuff in your pics) plus the car, signs, and outrun logo on attract...

I'm quite sure it isn't rom related because it was working fine in the other cab... I'mm guessing its power related...

I plan on spending some time on it tomorrow, but wanted to see if you had any luck?

i have a power drift that did the same thing, I moved it then had the same type mixed up screen issues that you pictured, now it wont come on at all. I know the power supply is good because it is brand new, so it must be something with the pcb on the game.

So I swapped in a spare outrun video board I had and all is well now... I'm quite sure one of the roms on the second board is the issue here...

Does anyone program outrun roms? If so You and I both are going to need them (me for my second board)

All the "standard" and "easy" things come 1st. Some have already been mentioned:
-verify voltages ON THE PCB AT SOME CHIPS.
-check the PCB interconnects
-check all socketed ICs for corrosion, clean IC legs as req'd
-visually inspect the PCB for damaged traces

Beyond that...

Even though it appears that "everything test out as good" in the self-test screen, it DOESN'T TEST EVERYTHING, in fact only the code EPROMs are checked IIRC. I'd start by pulling *every* EPROM, reading it, and trying to ident/verify it.

If none of that does anything, we're on to board-level issues, and time to dig into the schematics...
