Outrun dash reproductions

Hey guys, I know the Foo. Let me see if I can get him to check in here. He is a real guy, and has made some stuff. I know he is working on upgrading his shop to make more.

Common dude! Not necessary! just asking if someone might know him. Foo may not be one of them, but there actually are people out there that are good and just fall on bad times or make bad judgements and ultimately vindicate themselves. He may indeed be "gone with the merchandise", but just trying to help out, unlike yourself.

Mr gullible strikes again :)

LOL! I'm really not that gullible, despite what you may think. I try and give people a chance to prove themselves, but I have learned to limit my risk so if they prove to be what you are saying they all are, I am not too concerned and can move on with my life without being consumed with hatred and distrust of all that moves and breathes.

I have not been majorly burned by a scam artist and many of you have. (Fitting spin off of the commonly used phrase)

Mr gullible strikes again :)

Project is dead. Phineas Foo seems to have dropped completely out of the hobby as far as I can tell. He doesn't have games anymore and I haven't heard from him in a long time. A real bummer, but he seems to have come to the conclusion that these projects wouldn't make enough money to be worth his effort, which I imagine is true if you don't have a passion for supporting this hobby.

What about a plastics shop that would have to make a mold from a decent one, then do a small-ish run? Would this in any way be reasonable, well, priced where someone here would be interested in buying? Anyone have a contact to get an estimate?

I hear you but he logged in not so long ago... and He should really just give us the official word on it. I'm sure you can sell like 30-50 of these. I myself want two.

He did. He started a thread with a strange (non-obvious) title quite a while ago that basically said he isn't interested in this stuff unless someone wants to organize a run and prepay for the whole thing or something to that effect. That coupled with selling the games he had, disappearing from our local collector group, and not responding to me when I try to contact him is all the official word I need. Believe me, I wish it wasn't the case.

Trust him with your money and you're phoolish! He ran off with people's parts after promises of making repros and then comes back around talking about making more things like nothing ever happened. Then disappears again. No idea what his deal is, but it took one party a lot of time and effort to get stuff back and another guy lent him a mini Outrun dash and to my knowledge still has not received it back. Sit around and wait for "official" word all you want. He will not produce a single repro Outrun dash.

So, surely someone else is doing plastic work. I would think it would be more likely to find someone capable at rec.games.pinball than here, due to the demand of reproduction pinball ramps.

Pretty soon we'll be able to just 3D scan and 3D print our own plastic parts locally. I bet in like a few years we'll be able to just download a file and head out to Kinkos to make a 3D print of an Outrun dash.

Yep, there they are. The threads with worthless titles, and in a poorly chosen forum to boot. They make it more than obvious that he's not interested in arcade projects unless someone flashes enough cash to prove it's worth his while.

He definitely didn't do a good job of establishing a good reputation here but I think he returned everyone's stuff ultimately. I know back when I was getting together with him regularly I kept reminding him to check into the forums and follow up with people.

There must be someone else in this hobby that has vacuum forming skills. :(

What Ben said, I've yet to recieve my Outrun Dash back, a year later. Cost me $45 to ship it from the UK.

He did promise to restore it and return it, but nothing.

I was about to post that as of 12/27 the part hadn't been returned, but your post gives even more credence to the warning to stay away. That really blows!!!!
