Outrun: an info about the handle hex limits

Hi all,

it looks like the outrun (mini and standard upright) manuals report the maximum (33, fully "open" pot) and minimum (CB, fully "closed" pot) handle hex values, but not the actual limit values. Could an original-hardware outrun owner go to the test menu and report the hex values the game outputs turning full-left and full-right the wheel please?

Thanks :)

AFAIK there isn't any way to adjust the span/gain anyhow. The only adjustment that needs to be made is the "centered" or "free" reading, which should read close to 80 (hex). This ensures that your car will drive straight with the wheel centered.

No, there's not, but other games have "preferable" values declared in their manuals (i.e. super hang-on)... if i could find a turbo outrun manual maybe they are defined there, but i had no luck up to now.

Anyhow, i need those values not for an arcade i (would) own but for a MAME modification i am working on to have wheel range values more close to "the real stuff" as possible ;) so please post them if at disposal

OK. If no one else has done it by this evening, I'll tell you what I get on my OutRun at full-lock left and right.

Sure it helps, thanks. It would be interesting to dig out what's the cause of that difference... maybe different hardware versions? Different cabinet version? non-original pot? Maybe it's as easy as an "end-run" rubber to stop the wheel at 0° and 270° that wears over time...
