Outrageous prices?

Asking isn't selling, of course. I see the same crap over and over again on the Chicago craigslist, but it doesn't sell, of course.

All the deals get grabbed up immediately.

Compared to everyone else on here, i feel like all the local craigslist adds are ridiculously high. Like this ms. pacman:

Is that really worth that? or is this high. And its not just this add. There have been plenty of these, dks, popeyes, etc. at insanely high prices.

Ms pac is a 400-600 game all day long.

With the holiday season here hes "asking" a little more dont blame him. But using words like ridiculous and insane i dont think so.

No offense, but this might not be the hobby for you.

I agree, $700 sounds like a reasonable place to start. I'd probably shoot for around $550 if I were to get it, but he's not too far from the mark.

hell.. i just listed 3 working games to CL that i got no bites on here..

working Joust, asteroids deluxe, and berzerk. I posted them at 450 but i'd take 400 each on them.

Keep em posted. They will sell. Those are reasonable prices.

If you were local DP....I'd be interested in that Berzerk. Alas... you live a LONG LONG way from me.

People are posting things, expecting to get "dickered" down when negotiating.

I have a local guy who is looking for high prices on Missile Command, T2 and Deer Hunting USA. I mentioned that his prices were high, and he said "That's because people expect you to drop prices when they come in, so I do that up front so I have margins."

The track ball on his missile command sounded like a squirrel in a blender, every time you moved the ball. He was trying to use graphite to lubricate the bearings - I told him to refer to the manual, and use a 3 in 1 oil or sewing machine oil.

The funny part: He had the manual. Why don't people read the manuals?

same around here, once in a great while, there's a "fair" deal. I always bump my price on CL by about 50.00 I expect to get lowballed, and i tell them 400.00 is my bottom dollar, or i put it back in storage. I found a Stargate on CL missing the speaker shelf, monitor, marquee, and bezel. It was listed for 45.00 and it had all the boards in it. I didn't even argue price, it was fair.

The guy says, you interested in any other arcade games? i say yeah! and he opens his garage. there's a converted mspac, a defender, and a robotron. The robotron was missing the 12V on the board when we plugged it in. He had paid 400 for it, i offered 250 he took it. Got the defender and converted mspac for 50 each. It was a pretty good deal. I just offered the robotron from that deal to zinfer on here, for the same 250 i paid for it, because i know he wants one.

Even when the prices are good it seems people have a hard time selling around here. This guy has a lot of games on location and cannot seem to sell his older games. These have been listed on and off for the hole summer.

I kind of wanted to look at the Ms. pac but I am broke right now and need to fix the games I have for my sons B-day party.

I was just curious. Im pretty new to all of this. ms. pacman was one of my favorite games. There are alot of guys selling old deer hunters for like 1000 starting all the time as well. Just things like that. Or you get the guy who 60in1's a nice pacman and is asking like 1500. Like someone else said, all the good deals do get snatched up right away. Good thing i dont have the room right now. I cant buy em even if i wanted too. (paying for college also drastically limits the budget.)

Side note? how much would you expect to pay for a pengo? My uncle won one in those cereal box ones when he was a kid, and when he passed away my grandmother sold it. Id trade every arcade id ever own for a pengo.

Pengo's aren't very common but they aren't that expensive when they do pop up. I think it's because you can play it on any 60 in 1 (although I would say the emulation of that particular title is pretty terrible) that the price stays low. i got mine for $200

I'd pay $300 for a UR in good / great shape, and up to $350 for a cocktail (they're very rare, and I personally like the design).

Once you get it, don't expect to sell it quickly at those prices. Great game, though.

Ms. Pacmans are listed on the Denver craigslist for $1200 every week. $800 isn't nearly as insane, as people have said.
