Outer Limits Gets Re-Rezzed

Where did you pick up the 'earth' mural or wall-paper? That looks like something I have been wanting to add to Tranquility Base for a long time....

Steve's Blinds and Wallpaper. He was the cheapest. I can get a 4' x 9' Galaxy scene (to replace the Mad Planets mural if I get sick of it or if it doesn't turn out) for about $200. I wanted to try painting it first, since that was basically free. I like the painted mural so far, but I have a few elements to add, and anything can go wrong before I'm done. Now I need to get the last 3 games finished so I can fill the room. Gorf, Space Invaders Deluxe and my Joust/Multi-Williams.

I think you now need to take the room to the next level, stainless or aluminum accents, industrial light fixture, do away with the stained wood trim and doors, etc. What you have done so far looks amazing but now you need to go all in.

OK, wait. Didnt you just have to shut down Galaxy Blue? Where in the house are these games?

Are you one of those guys with games all over the house? :)

My Basement is split up into 4 sections. The Galaxy Blue Bar/Lounge/Arcade (main part), The Outer Limits Arcade (Guest Bedroom), The Laundry Room and what was my Home Theatre which is now my newest Arcade space. I have no games upstairs or anything like that. I basically moved the games in the Outer Limits from one wall to the other while I painted. I can fit 8 in the Outer Limits and 15 in the Old Theatre. My wife is letting me keep 2 vids and a pinball machine near the bar, in addition to the juke and 2 dartboards. I still have a ways to go to integrate everything, but I am actually able to fit more games in here now.

I like it.

It looks a lot "busier", and I think thats good for a game room. Old pics of arcades seemed to be sensory overload with all the games, sounds, and everything on the walls. I can imagine blasting "Major Tom" and playing some Galaxian in that room and being very content.

BTB - You don't think Tom would be upset at me blasting him whilst playing Galaxian, do you? Multi-tasking my man. Multi-tasking at its finest.

I like it MUCH better than your previous try. That said, I'm a bit concerned with Jow's taste in music...

I can imagine blasting "Careless Whisper" by Wham and playing some Galaxian in that room and being very content.

BTB - You don't think George Michael would be upset at me blasting him whilst playing Galaxian, do you?

I could do brushed aluminum 'covers' that would basically sit over the woodwork. They could be attached underneath the lip of the molding or to the face of it with velcro or something. The woodwork (routered oak) isn't getting painted or going anywhere, but I could cover it up. I also want to get Blacklight carpet put in here. When we built the house, we went with a very basic industrial grey carpet that is just glued down. I could have the BL stuff stretched right over the top of this, giving an extra layer of insulation for your feeties. I am also gonna add lights to the arches over the windows. Probably LED rope lights set into the straight plastic channels around the outside edges, above and outside the colored rectangles. You can also see the 12 inch deep black shelf that runs around the room on 2 sides. I installed that to use as a place to display collectibles, but the games in front kinda killed that idea:

I wish you could reenact this scene in person tonight. Man would we have a blast. Sweet gameroom, fully stocked bar, big screen TV, mud wrestling pit complete with one eyed midgets, spicy and sweet hors d' oeuvres, horsewhips, etc. I'm tearing up just thinking about it. What are ticket prices from San Jose to St. Cloud?

Stop by my parents place, my dad has a 12 foot brake in his shop, can handle up to 1/4" material.

There it is infront of one of the lathes...

This is the first time of the ten thousand pictures you've posted of this room that I've ever noticed the Mad Planets mural. That thing is rad! That is a waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cooler section of mural than the earth wall. +10 points and fifty gold stars for that wall!

I bet you're garbage can looked like it was puking up smurfs after this.

.....

.... you know, 'cause of all the blue tape?
..

Yeah I did, but I wish they would have been more recently. It's been a while since I free handed it.

I think you could make a living at it, those walls look really good. If you were local I would pay you to do my theater room. Its probly one of those things though that is so time consuming you would only do your own. Like roofing your house nobody ever likes to help with that so we hire it out to roofers.Hey do you have a Mad Planets, didnt see it maybe I wasnt looking very hard though.

I don't. Been looking for one, but they never pop up locally. I've got a marquee, a flyer, and this mural to tide me over til I find one.

I know where there is a Mad Planets I just havnt been able to talk the guy out of it yet,I'll have to give it another try again soon.
