So I decided that after almost a year of living with my unfinished Outer Limits wing, I'd make the move to try and actually finish it. It all started when the original wall paper border strips I used in the black space arches began peeling off the wall due to humidity. At first I kept putting them back and trying to flatten them, but by the next day, they'd be on the ground again. So, I decided to redo all of the space arches with silver, blue and green paint. I also didn't like the fact that my "Space Window" was just stars on a black background, pretty boring, so I decided to paint a mural inspired by the flyer for Mad Planets and the side art of Asteroids Deluxe. Finally, I never intended for the light blue to be the base color. I wanted this room to look like the inside of a space ship/ space station, so I thought I'd better use a lot of darker neutral colors in addition to silver. The old room:

I still have some details to take care of, mainly lighting and some touch-ups, but I'm liking the direction it's heading in.

frickin dope!!!! the space window is the schiznit phet. I bet thats a kick a$$ room wih the lights dimmed and the blacklights on..

Yeah, I'm thinkin I should rename my garcade the "run down garage" arcade, therefore all the decorating is instantly done.

I dunno...everything you do is flat out awesome, but for some reason the blue trim you had before kinda gave me the old arcade vibe. I would have left the blue and did everything else.

Do you not work? Where do you find the time?

Looks great!

Thanks. No I work, and work out at the gym, and have 2 kids and a wife to take care of. I stay home on the weekends and stay up late during the week. Lighting comparison.

I am going to be adding a dimmer to this room to control the lighting. The current fixture washes out the colors and reflects too sharply off of the silver paint.

There wasn't enough contrast between the steel blue and the silver. The High Tea/Dark Grey
color makes it pop. It also absorbs light better, giving the room a darker appearance. That's the way I remember arcades.

Excellent work Phetty; looking at it makes me feel that I could be swept off a space station and lost in space forever, which is good...it adds a little danger to the gameroom. Nice job!

You sir, are a freaking genuis. No, I mean that. I think your a genuis whos freaking losing it!

That has to be in the "Top 10 of Arcade Rooms with Mad Planets Flyers painted on the walls" category.

If I had a beer sir, I'd pour half a glass for you. Nice freakin' (out) job!

By the way, what kind of paint did you use to cover up the Rough Rangers fliers you painted on the wall first?

Thanks Brent. Good to see you around here again. Last time I saw you, you had plenty of beers within grabbing distance. You on the wagon or on the job?

Not on the job or the wagon. Just outta beer. :)

Yeah I like to pop in once in awhile to just be an ass.

Looks gay to me.

J/K I like the blacklight in the corner and also the Mad Planets mural. Good job.

This is the first time of the ten thousand pictures you've posted of this room that I've ever noticed the Mad Planets mural. That thing is rad! That is a waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cooler section of mural than the earth wall. +10 points and fifty gold stars for that wall!

I bet you're garbage can looked like it was puking up smurfs after this.

.....

.... you know, 'cause of all the blue tape?
..
.. inside the can?

...like it's a mouth and shit?

Where did you pick up the 'earth' mural or wall-paper? That looks like something I have been wanting to add to Tranquility Base for a long time....
