I must say, Craigslist has been good to me as of late. A couple weeks back there was an ad placed for a local guy looking for an older pinball for his kids. I contacted him and ended up selling my very first pinball I'd ever bought, my 1978 Big Deal. It was a solid game, never given me any problems, fired up every time, but never got played and quite frankly after owning it for 6 years I was quite bored with it. It was the first game that I actually sold for more than I bought it for. I was happy about that.
Well, after moving it out, and seeing the empty spot where it stood, I jokingly said to my wife that it was time to find a new toy to fill the space. Much to my surprise she gave me the ok. She's very tolerant of my arcade/pinball collecting even though she has no interest in them whatsoever. Most of my games I've gotten really cheaply and don't have any real high $ games. I didn't really expect to really look or find anything of interest, especially up in the isolated area of northeast Michigan that I live in and hadn't been checking E-bay or Craigslist very much.
Well, lo and behold I decided to check Craigslist Monday night and there was a Jurassic Park listed for sale about an hours drive away. I contacted the guy and arranged to go check it out Tuesday night after work. It was in amazing shape. No hacks and everything looks original. The T-Rex works flawlessly. No playfield wear at all. The cabinet and head are nearly flawless with only a couple minor scratches on the right side of the head. If this wasn't a HUO machine, it's damn close.
I usually prograstinate and think about a purchase, but I pulled the trigger and brought it home that same night. I got a friend to help me unload it yesterday and upon seeing it he asked if the machine was brand new, as it sure looked factory fresh.
We got it downstairs and fired it up. The game is incredibly fast and seems to have a ton of modes to explore. So far I'm very happy with the purchase and can't wait to get home tonight and enjoy it some more. I know it's not an Addams Family, Medievel Madness or Twilight Zone but it sure is a lot more exciting than the Big Deal that it's replaced.
I'll post some pictures probably tonight. Oh, and after negotiating I ended up paying $1,600 for it which, considering its condition, I didn't think was too outrageous.
