Our first project for 2010... a Mario Bros. conversion.

Still very early in the project but we got to play yesterday for the first time so it warranted a page on the website...

I know it's no fat-boy... but it'll work just fine for us. :D

Not yet... but it's getting there.

The wifey and kiddos have to play almost every time they walk by... can't wait for some warmer weather so I can take it outside for sanding/filling/sanding/painting/sanding/painting. :D

exactly what I have to do with mine. have a gutted Popeye cab with mass wood gouging and all the trim and panel pieces all taken out of it. I bondo-ed one side, but never got around to sanding it. I might be able to bondo and sand now, but I'll hold off painting it until spring most likely... if I do it.

yours looks substantially better than mine. :)

Yeah no kidding, I've got four games that need to be sanded/painted etc and I'm bouncing off the walls waiting for things to warm up.
Is that side art just taped on? It looks it in the picture.

Yep, the family and I were looking at pictures on the 'net to see if we wanted to go with orange sides or maybe keep them blue. We were looking back and forth between pictures when I just said the hell with it and taped the side art up. ;)

It's still taped up too. I know it's stupid but it just looks so naked without the side art.

I can't wait 'til spring... we have this, a Centipede, and a Tempest to strip and repaint.

Nice pick up Jeff! Although, I hope you can find a WB cabinet eventually or at least emulate it as the Phet said. Haha. But your arcade is awesome and you know what you're doing so do whatever makes you happy. :)

Sorry to hear about not getting your D2K kit. That sucks.

That's really all that matters imo. Perfect restorations are nice... but if something "not so" makes you happy then go for it. The family voted for blue and that's what we gonna do. :D
(but you know I'll happen upon a widebody about a week after we finish this project!!!)

Yeah... I guess I made the assumption that these were ready to go once all the back orders were caught up. Honestly... I wouldn't have ordered it if I knew I was going to have to wait over a month. I held off this long just because of all the waiting people were having to do... I timed it wrongo I guess. :)

As far as this project, I'm taking tomorrow off to do some arcade things and go gambling with the wifey. First thing in the AM I'm stripping the control panel to ready it for the new overlay. The MameMarquees.com overlay is way better than what I was expecting. My son will be happy because the bare metal "makes your hand smell". :D (gotta luv kids)

Worked on the control panel for a couple hours yesterday and went from this...

to this...

Also worked the monitor bezel with some Novus#2 since it was pretty scratched up when we got it. You can see the difference in these two pictures...

Still have to work the bezel a little more but it's looking better.
