I'm thrilled to announce that we've been fortunate to be able to collaborate with one of the world's foremost car museums -- the Petersen Automotive Museum, on a 10 month exhibit on 80s and 90s pop culture: Totally Awesome!
On the video game side, there is a playable arcade, a console display section, and a video tower showcasing 19 coin-op arcade releases leading to the second floor of the museum.
And of course, there are cars... LOTS of cars. The exhibit itself features a whole range of vehicles, 80s and 90s legendary vehicles ranging from a McLaren F-1, to the Gucci Edition Cadillac, to Austin's Power's custom VW Beetle, and of course to the Pac-Man rod made by Larry Wood in 1982!
Custom tokens promoting both the Petersen and the Museum of the Game (including our arcade-museum.com web address!) arrive in the next few days.
With more than 300,000 projected visitors over its run, it's good opportunity for us to share the arcade experience with a wide audience, to gain experience operating coin-op games under a real load, and to promote this site (and thus these forums!).
If you have never been to the Petersen, it's definitely worth a visit! It's also directly across the street from the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, LACMA, and the LA Brea Tar Pits, so you can turn a visit into a full enriching day if you want.
