Starting a thread for these issues.

#1 Flippers don't work.

When I got it they where directly connected to the flipper buttons that made them work. My thoughts are that this is either the flipper disable relay or along that line, to the end of throw switches.

Most likely not this as I just replaced the rectifier board with a new replacement from GPE. And the flippers work if jumpered.

#2 Credit / Ball in Play display is not working at all.

Anyone know where I would start with this?

#3 Player 4 Display only displays on the 2nd digit from the left

All digits are displaying on that one digit. The digit shows up extra bright. Seems like a freaking out shift register based on my very limited knowledge about displays.

I was thinking I would swap the connectors of player 3 and player 4 and see if it is the display or the display driver board/wiring.

OK, so I swapped the player 3 and 4 displays and the problem persisted on the same display which means the problem is in it. This is a STERN DA-300.

I am not sure what the model number is of the credit/ball display.

#1 flippers. Look at the back of the solenoid driver board in the area of the flipper relay. Any burned traces? Cracked solder joints? Is the flipper relay activating?

#2 credit display. Plug another display in there. Does it light up?

#3 4th player display. Shorted transistor driving that digit. I'd replace Q6 and Q12 and try it again.

This morning I removed the solenoid driver board and checked the on the relay connections. The relay is working I get tone from the header pins on the board when the relay engages when I power the machine on. Although I don't get continuity from the header to the right flipper button. I ran out of time though and I need to look at the wiring schematic to make sure I am testing on the right points.

Can I plug in the score displays in the credit display??? They have a different number of digits?

Thanks, I will do that!

So I figured out the flipper issue. The previous owner had mixed up two of the molex connectors so that the display driver board was connected to the buttons and the solenoid diver board was connected to the display. Someone had also pulled one of the wires on the connector.

Almost 100%, just some display issues now. Some numbskull swapped to molex connectors so that the Display Driver was connected to the buttons and the Solenoid Driver was connected to the displays!

let me know if u ever want to sell or trade it . i see the pf wear, its fine thow.
