OT: Why would someone do this??? NON ARCADE, but computer related...

To overclock the CPU. I think it is pointless and a big mess but some people just get off on pushing their PC to the max.

It is more of a modder thing. I ran liquid cooling with a peltier for a little while, had a leak took me two hours with a black light to find all of the damn liquid (dialectic fluid).

Just isn't worth it, 8 years ago, 12 years ago there were reasons to Overclock when so many things were clock based (DVD Ripping) but now that things have gone more multi-core etc there is no point.

His concept isn't new at all saw it done years ago, back when people first stopped using water or ethylene glycol as fluids, and went with dialectic fluids.

that is the dumbest thing i have ever seen.It will corrode in no time,it will overheat because even though its cooled with liquid airflow is better and it will most likely kill you because its a great big oil filled toaster in a bath tub plotting against you

I've seen old Macs converted into fish tanks before. They're kind of cute.

Was it this one?

A fully functional Pc submerged in none conductive oil

~ Intell Pentium 4 650 Hyper Threaded CPU 3.4ghz/3.4ghz)
~ 1gb Ram (2x 512 DDR2)
~ note that all the ports on the motherboard are submerged in oil and are fully functional
~ Four SATA connectors
~ Currently 80GB Hard drive
~ Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit installed.
~ 15 inch Asus LCD Monitor (also submerged and fully functional.)
~ also the glass acts as a sort of magnifier in my opinion and the buttons are accessible out of the oil.
~ Microsoft Wireless Mouse and Keyboard are included (the receiver is also submerged and fully functional)
~ a USB extender is Included as well for clean use, and easier access. (no messy hands trying to use the submerged ports.
~ a Wireless Network Card included and submerged.(working great) but a short Ethernet cable extends outside the case.

~ Every thing is submerged in a 10gallon (37.7Liter) aquarium with a modified lid that houses the hardrive and air pump for bubble effect.
Everything is functional and can be upgraded or moved (it will be messy but can be cleend ). the computer does get warm, but does not over heat, though a cooler room with keep the oil cooler as well.

~ I can make more submerged pc's to your specs also note for gaming would not have lcd screen submerged for better cooling
.
*** this concept is still experimental but is fully functional and has been running grate. Tank is heavy but extremely quiet with he air pump off (pump is for bubble effect only and dose not effect performance ***

contact for any questions. Just to make with out pc and lcd its around $200 alone. I do have a vid of it working and being played on its a must see.

back in the day when the socket A AMD Duron 600 came out i did the old pencile trick to the traces on the chip to unlock it and i over clocked it reliably to 950mhz with Alpha heatsink and fan and dual intell p3 900's over clocked to 1150.. :)... i miss those days... never did any water cooling to anything.
