While I do collect console video games and arcade machines, my primary hobby, for a long time, has been collecting old computers. The hobbies are interrelated - as video games were my first exposure to computers (my first computer was an Atari 130xe). And, of course, the same processors used in arcade games often were used in comptuers...

Anyway, I digress. lately I've noticed that I'm running low on blank floppies. Someting I thought would never happen. You see, many years ago, I acquired a couple huge boxes of the things. "I'll never use all those", I thought. Which, while true, isn't the problem. Recently, I started using disks from the second box. Unfortunately, it seems that before I owned them, they were stored improperly. Just about all of them are useless - media degredation, warped disks, mildew on the disk media, etc. Looks like they must have been in an attic, or, more likely, a boiler room (these came from a school).

So, anyone some floppies laying around? I can use both DS/DD and DS/HD. I'm really just looking for the usual assortment of used disks - not sealed boxes or anything fancy.

And, of course, I'm always looking for old computers/parts if anyone has some junk that needs a home... :)

I picked up a big box of Apple II software a while back... I can't imagine that after 20+ years the media is still good, but they can probably be reformatted.

I'll take a look and see if I didn't throw them out.

A friend's company was moving, and i was helping them pack up, and we threw out THOUSANDS of 3.5" and 5.25" floppies.

On another note, I do have a unopened box of 8" memorex floppies, but I doubt you have a drive that can use them... I should save them to recreate scenes from Wargames.

Damnit! I just threw away an unopened case of them about a month and a half ago. I'll see if I still have a couple boxes laying around.

Also, any interest in my Apple IIe? The only thing I have for it is Orgen Trail. And I don't play it as much as I did 4 months ago when I got it.

You'd be suprised. If stored properly, I've found that floppies do hold up pretty well. Some brands are better than others though. Occasionally you get one where all the oxide coating comes off and gunks up the heads the moment you load it...

Heh. You'd be suprised. My TRS-80 Model II and model 12 both use 8" disks, as does the IBM System/23 Datamaster, the NEC APC, and a few others. I've also got several machines with open-reel nine track tape drives. Big iron is fun. :)

I have about 10 blank 5.25"'s that are loose but never used to my knowledge. I also have an unopened 20 pack with case. PM me with what you need.

I'd pay a few bucks for a working Oregon Trail 5.25".
