Can anyone explain what Intel Atom H270 1.6Ghz compares to on normal CPU scale? I'm assuming this is portable/compact Intel CPU. I was going to buy a new monitor for my PC, but thought about just getting All-In-1 PC instead.

Thanks,
Kevin

The Intel Atom is a mobile chip. I have personally never seen a desktop computer use one. It's slow, but it runs at low voltages and doesn't draw much power. Those $300 netbooks use them. I have an Acer Aspire One with a 1.6ghz Atom processor. I would rate the performace about on par with a high end Pentium III, maybe a little better.

But, for the tiny little cheap computer I use as a portable terminal, it's fine.

I actually have a dual core version, called the Atom 330. It comes on an ITX motherboard, the board and chip come as a set. They now have a version with much better onboard video from nvidia. Those boards are made by a company called ION and have an HDMI out on the board and can display full 1080p video. I made my own media pc I keep in my living room... works great. The single or dual core version can be used for MAME applications even without the extra video power.

You just need the motherboard/cpu, a stick of DDR2 RAM (that works with the MB you get), a 2 1/2" HD and case - and you are in business. Install the OS with a flash-drive. Probably for under $250.

I'm wanting to get all-in-1 unit for my main PC. I can test touchscreen apps before implementing them on my projects.
