I have a Christmas light controller that stopped working, It looks like the XL1225 transistor(s) are bad. It is listed as a PNPN Thyristor. Can I just install a standard PNP transistor of comparable values? Any (easy/cheap) replacement #s?
Thanks for any info

Thyristors are NOT transistors... and if you don't replace it with the proper part, the replacement will go BOOM.

Thanks for the info, that was not the answer I wanted( ;.) ). Got some new original style ones ordered.

Channelmanic is right. A Thyristor isn't anything like a transistor.

I'm not sure it will go BOOM, but it can cause the smoke to come out of other parts, which would make your repair more interesting.

Might even vaporize some traces. Wacky fun.
