OT: Another Great Use for Pinball LEDs - Boat Map Light Bulb Replacement
I was repairing the electrical system for my father-in-law's pontoon boat and there is a dashboard map light that continually burns out and is a bear to replace (the replacement gets soldered in). Rather than go through the hassle ever again, I removed the bulb and replaced it with a 6.3V white pinball LED in series with a 330 ohm resistor. The measured voltage was about 6.5V from a 12VDC source - close enough. That light should never need to be replaced again and is one less thing for me to do - I can spend more time fishing....
