OT: Another Great Use for Pinball LEDs - Boat Map Light Bulb Replacement

I was repairing the electrical system for my father-in-law's pontoon boat and there is a dashboard map light that continually burns out and is a bear to replace (the replacement gets soldered in). Rather than go through the hassle ever again, I removed the bulb and replaced it with a 6.3V white pinball LED in series with a 330 ohm resistor. The measured voltage was about 6.5V from a 12VDC source - close enough. That light should never need to be replaced again and is one less thing for me to do - I can spend more time fishing....

Oh yeah I use them all over the place!

Got them in my cars, the 906 LED bulbs are 12 volts and work awesome! The colors and possibilites are endless.

Much cheaper to buy pin 12V LEDs then auto 12V LEDs.
