Just curious of other peoples thoughts on this: I've been a lifelong fan of the time crisis series, but I really loved the original, because I feel like it best fit the original scheme of shooting guys to get more time. The subsequent games were more like just great shooting games with the cool pedal and recoil features.

ANYWAY, I never seem to see the original game for sale, and I'm just curious if there was something about them that permanently failed or was irreparable that took them out of service forever. Just seems to be so much more rare than the other entries. Not even looking for one (my garage is at capacity). Just curious

I'm guessing that lots were either scrapped (once TC2 came out) or they simply didn't sell as many any subsequent games.

I see them sometimes pop up here in AUS and Japan, but the top marquees are always either missing or badly cracked.

TC2 is still insanely popular here in AUS to the point where pretty much any retro themed arcade is guaranteed to run one!

But the replay value for TC2 is very.... short imo. I love Time Crisis, sometimes you see a cab here in Europe for sale, sadly they are expenisve too nowadays.

One popped up on a Vegas awhile backZ I let my buddy grab it. I'm told the guns can be troublesome.

I have a half working boardset if you are interested. It works but there are some graphical issues with it.

I know it's 2 of the boards because I got another set and swapped in 2 of the boards and it's working fine.

Shoot me a PM if you are interested. It's pretty heavy as well.

I think it's a matter of timing. When I started with ADI there were a few TC1's on the route yet, about 10 years ago. Enough of them failed in the next six years before anyone seemed to give a damn about it that they were scrapped. I think all of ours were weird cut conversions, though. No dedicated.

I've got a Time Crisis 1 sitting in my garage right now with a gun issue. Supposedly it's an issue with swapping a resistor out in the monitor chassis, just haven't gotten around to it. Cabinet is in really good condition though.

I have a Time Crisis story, and I agree I rarely see the original for sale. When I was 16, I worked at a skating rink and in our arcade there we had the pedestal version of Time Crisis 1 featured right in the middle. I fondly remember only playing the time trial modes (usually with my roller blades on), specifically on the first level and competing with the other employees (and our boss) for who can record the fastest time through the first stage. I memorized the locations of all of the bad guys, as did everyone else, and our times were fractions of seconds apart.

Maybe a little late here but...

What monitor are you using?

Mine is a Hantarex Polo and when I had issues with "invalid value" on the calibration screen it was L105 which is a 2r2 resistor according to the schematics but I didn't have one on hand so used a 2r7 and it's working fine now
