I have an invoice here that has Road Blaster prices on it from the 80's. CA Robinson sold it to an operator for 1072.50 , he bought 5 of them. Ouch !

Not sure what the fuss is there. Seems fair for a brand new game, maybe even fair for a kit.

RoadBlasters was a pretty hot game bitd as far as I know, probably took in great earnings. It's only worthless nowadays because the cockpit is prohibitively large and covered in decals nobody reproduces, and the kit is probably the 2nd or 3rd most common thing Atari ever produced.

I am curious however whether the receipt is for 5x cockpits, uprights, or kits though.

yeah, it was $995 for the RB kit out here in Cali.
When I bought my new System 1, it was $1695 for the cab then $695 for the kit.
I got MM since that what was available at the time.

Thats pretty cool hearing about new prices from BITD. That doesn seem to bad nowadays, but in the 80's, that was alot of loot.

Was $1000 a lot back then for a brand new kit bitd when vids were still hot? I know new full games these days probably retail around $4-5000, but not sure how much kits go for these days (like, say, the latest Golden Tee or something) so it makes it hard to put it in perspective.

It was expensive for 1980's money but the games actually did make a lot in the cash box.
I bought a Gauntlet NIB for $2895. The local arcade let me put it in there. I think I made my money back within 3 months, even on a 50/50 split.

The most I ever paid for a game was $4295. That was for a Mortal Kombat II.
When I finally sold it, I was still in the hole about $600.
