SOLD - GAME Original Spyhunter – Fully Working, $2000

I am pretty sure this seller has scammed me out of $2200. I bought his restored SmashTV with the Total Carnage board and switcher. https://forums.arcade-museum.com/th...tal-carnage-2-in-1-ready.555955/#post-5017850 and he took down the listing and has messaged me odd answers to my inquires. I will post more detail soon in another part of the forum, what section should I post in regarding this?
He has zero negative feedback. That is the warning flag that many look for here.

I just checked my feedback stats as well. I'm at zero. I've also never left anyone feedback.

Feedback is hard though since our stuff is old. I've bought stuff here that didn't work 100% even though on the listing it did. But I figure anything can happen to this stuff getting jostled around.

I guess minus not receiving whole games, what is important/useful feedback we'd like?

-Item shipped
-Item packaged well
-Item in condition described

I could leave people feedback I guess, but dunno, most people I bought stuff from were active members and anyone newish had a part I was willing to take a gamble on.

My concern/weakness is I give people the benefit of the doubt when they say something works. And of course our hobby doesn't necessarily have easy to come by parts, so often I take the gamble and wind up having two non-functioning boards rather than the one I was trying to replace. But to be fair, I'm not doing major board repairs either, which is why I think some questionable boards here sell for more than junk when they are broken.

All I can say, is thank you to all the real people out there for helping me keep/get my games going!

Yea generally if I'm buying from someone I check to see that they actually have sold games - I saw he didn't but still moved forward. I'm also ok with Zelle if someone will FaceTime me and show me the game - he didn't do that and sent me a link to some bogus video - I literally told my arcade friend I'm buying this paperboy but it seems like a scam - then actually Michelle from STI told me I may be getting ripped off because someone else was ripped off when they went to set up shipping -

Even if you get something that doesn't work, it then turns to what the seller is willing to do to make it right. I can totally see things not working when they arrive, but if the seller is a stand-up guy and helps you through it, that's not only not a negative sale, that's an extra positive.

Maybe that's offering detailed technical support, maybe that's having someone local come by and look at the problem, maybe that's them offering to buy it back, maybe it's them offering to pay to have a replacement part sent, maybe it's a shipping problem they need to go pursue with the shipping company, maybe it's them giving you some money back from the sale in compensation. It all happens and it's all good and speaks to the quality of the seller.

Unfortunately, this is a weakness of this community. People here trust one another too much. I know that sounds crass and negative but it's what gets people into trouble and attracts scammers. This can be difficult for some because it's only human nature to think the best of others. People want to be part of a "club" or "trusting community".

I don't really trust anyone here. It's nothing personal. It's just being smart. I don't really know 99% of anyone on KLOV. Almost everyone here is just an avatar to me. I really have no idea if the person on the other end is a legit person or not... from one day to the next so I just play it safe and always assume the avatar on the other end could be scamming me.

Also, some scams are quick and some scams are incredibly elaborate and drawn out for weeks or months. There is no steadfast rule to trusting someone from one day to the next. People can "break bad" at any time.
It's not personal, it's just business…

With a join date of 2022, only 47 posts and ZERO percent feedback...there is no chance in hell I'm blindly sending $2000 for a game.

I was going to inquire about the SmashTV board when it was first posted for a friend who wants one, and all of the above made me think there's no way would I deal with this guy. Too many red flags.

Right? How does that even happen? It was my understanding that entire threads can't be deleted.

I know individual posts can be edited but entire threads? I couldn't find it, at least.

I too thought that if someone else had posted a reply into a thread, the OP cannot delete the thread. This is exactly why I always post in a for sale thread for an item I want to buy. What's the deal with this @Tombo and @mclemore ?

You can't even see his profile. I know feedback is only one aspect of feeling a member out, I rely heavy on who can vouch for you. I know we all have to start somewhere but he signed up three years ago, somebody should have something to say about him. Solid references go a long way. Hopefully it works out, this sucks for the hobby and community.

This guy got me for 200.00 as a down payment for the Spy Hunter. i had my own red flags that i didnt see in the beginning. But now my eyes are wide open now. first he wanted me to send payment directly to his bank. This didnt seem right because 99.9 of the people on here use Paypal.

Name: JACK A COOK
Bank name: Public Service Credit Union
Account type: Checking
Account number :110007364009
Routing: 274973358
Home address: 5418 FERNWOOD AVE FORT WAYNE City IN State 46809
Bank address: 4025 W. Jefferson Blvd. Fort Wayne, IN 46804

Next he told me to send money here.

Hello Wes, My buddy has PayPal so that should work fine. here's his email let me know when payment is sent. Thanks.

PayPal: [email protected]
Name: Victor.

Kindly have payment sent via F&F option so it's available on my end.

as you can see he wanted me to send money to his "buddy" which was 200.00 so shame on me . learned a valuable lesson. hopefully this guy gets booted from the community .

booted from community? if he's scammed people for thousands he needs to be arrested!!

someone needs to archive these messages, surprised he hasnt had this thread deleted

@mclemore how is it possible the other thread was deleted?? thanks

also, if those of you that got scammed haven't filed a police report, please do so ASAP that way there is documentation of the criminal acts, theft, fraud, etc
he's involved his buddy, id think they would be an accomplice right??

I just banned the account. Fucker is in Nigeria. The account owners email was probably Comprimised and he stupidly used the same password everywhere. (assuming) That paypal address should have been a hard stop on that $200 payment BTW...just saying.

Also, "Intermediate users" which there seems to be 6300+, have the permission to delete their own thread in the for sale section. I suspect this will be changed soon. Also, the crook adjusted the accounts permissions to only allow "friends" to see their profile which is why the restricted alert was shown.

3 other accounts also used the same IP in Nigeria and are now banned:

Andmackris
deaniatley
Stancade

They used a VPN and connectedf rom all over the place and from cell phones too.

I feel sick to my core. I sent him $500 down to hold this Spy Hunter until I could make the weekend road trip to Fort Wayne Indiana next weekend to pick it up. I'm not a collector or a reseller- this is something I have wanted for decades….. I have no words…
