I bought an original Ms Pac-Man from the 80's, the lady I bought it from purchased it in 1982. It came with all the books and schematics for the game and the cabinet and boards inside were pristine. The only issue is the
CRT does not work. You can start the game and play with Audio but no visual, I have no idea where to start with the CRT repair or Replace with an LCD and 60 games. I am wanting to keep it as authentic as possible but repairing and/or replacing the CRT might be the breaking issue. Any input would be appreciated TIA.

Mike welcome to the best arcade repair and restoration site on the web.

Congratulations in the pick up. Sounds like a great cabinet.

We here are going to advocate that you repair the monitor and keep that amazing machine all original.

I would start my posting pictures of the monitor and chassis so we can identify what you have. First time monitor repair can be intimidating and scary at first but we can walk you through it. If it's a G07 or something similar I bet we can find someone to sell you a repaired chassis and walk you through the process of swapping them out.

Or it could be something as simple as a fuse. Do you have a DMM where you can check voltage?

Congrats on the purchase. If you are going to 60 in 1 it, please offer to sell it here prior.

The monitor should be a G07 CBO. People sell rebuilt units that you can swap out relatively easily.

if the monitor was never serviced then the HOT is probably shorted and the small F901 fuse blown. if you powered the game on with the monitor power connected, the filter cap on it is now charged. which will be confusing later if you go to take the monitor chassis out and wonder why your hands keep getting zotted. ;) you can discharge it at the blown fuse (I would do both sides), but you need a pretty large resistor of the high wattage ceramic variety ideally to bleed it out gently.

if you have no prior soldering experience but have interest in learning, the G07 is one of the easier monitors to work on. replacing the HOT takes some finesse though as there's wires you have to solder on and there's those plastic spacers that kind of just fall out..

Thank you very much, I found a Company in Baldwin Park, CA that still works on these. PNL has great reviews and a few tech's said to take it to them. So I think thats what I will do.

PNL are kind of butchers that you pay full money for like 1/4 of the work. if it's local to you and that's what you want to do then have at it.

I've never known a company to say "We treat your item like we treat our ex wives. When can you drop it off?"

Does PNL mean parts n labor? 😆

Mike where you located at? I'm guessing somewhere in SoCal?

I don't mind helping out to get you up and running I have a couple of rebuilt by TronGuy G07 chassis ready to go. Maybe we can work something out where I bring one and show you how to swap it out and see if that fixes your monitor problem. We can do some basic voltage checks while I'm there.
