More Updates!
Well not that I feel like I have to explain my actions, but I really do like this site and I like vintage video games and pinball machines! This is the first one I needed to sell, having traded for my others. Anyway, without me being shitty, let me answer some "insights"!
1) Originally a local shop owner offered $500. (Yes, but not the shop that ended up with it. )
2) Sought out a bunch of offers from KLOW members. (Members did message me and only one was higher than my local offer of $500.00)
3)Wound p receiving a bunch of offers from KLOV members via PM under the guise they would potently have an opportunity to purchase said game. (I wrote every message back and gave them updates on what was going on…even stating I was working out a deal locally. One guy I was slack to and I wrote him back and apologized.)
4)Goes radio silent multiple time intermittently throughout the time period of which said game is reportedly for sale (probably pitting offers against each other). (Radio silent? I answered all of my messages and even went as far as posting updates…if it wasn't daily, I checked every other day. Apart from my FIRST long silence which was my dumb fault caused by forgetfulness…)
5)In the end, sells it to a local shop owner for $1000 (double the original shop owners offer). (Nope. The record store offered me 500…my buddy with the pawn shop gave me a 1000)
6)Am I wrong to assume its the same shop owner? Or is Savannah Georgia a collectors Mecca for shop owners who want an esoteric arcade game such as Frogs? (Don't know how to answer this one..)
7)So he basically solicited a bunch of peoples offers to jack up the price up on "his friend" the shop owner. In my industry we have a term for that, its called "whoring your material".
Dude, next time just put the price on it that you want in the first place instead of jerking people off......... (Thanks man! Really cool of you! You are 100% right about me not knowing the value and after researching for many months I still couldn't find any that sold anywhere. I posted that I received an offer of $500 and members messaged me saying they would offer the same or a bit higher. Some other members hit me up to tell me that the game is in incredible shape and should fetch x amount of dollars. Since we still live in a capitalist land, I of course showed this to Eric and he gave me more. Locally. No shipping on my end. I'm sure people out there knew it was worth more, but hey, that's the name of the game. I am a seller, I want the highest I can get. A buyer naturally wants the lowest. Nothing wrong with that.
8) I used Klov and another site and two companies came up with good reviews. They said they pallet and shrink wrap and transport. One game about the same size went from Florida to Arizona for about $300.00 so I told Eric to put something down. (Yes I am helping him). He spoke about some other shipping deal as well in description. It's NOT for UPS even though it says so.
9)I call total bullshit on this entire thread. (Thanks again man! )
The pictures of this game on eBay are pictures of the game in this dudes house next to the Judge Dread pinball that he "thankfully didn't have to sell". (Yep…sure is…and I even wrote about those photos…and how the machine is STILL at my house!)
Your telling me that he sold this to a pawnshop for $1000 and they are listing it on eBay using his photos of the game in his house. The guy works at a pawnshop, just look at his profile (unless he changes it). Your telling me he works at a pawnshop and sold it to another pawnshop so that the other pawn shop could sell it on eBay. Give me a fucking break. (No break needed man…this whole deal doesn't have my butt chaffed…unlike you. I'm glad you care that much about it though!
All he did was probe for information so he knew what to set a reserve on it when they sell it on eBay. (I thought this site was to share information to newbies and others about old video games and pinballs and such? I didn't think probing was required?
Anyway, thanks to the people that offered me good advice and insight, and I sincerely do apologize to the others. It did go down weird and looks way more complicated than it is. Bottom line, yes I had no idea what the value was and people helped me out with it. To be honest, that when the ball started rolling with my boss at the pawn shop (not the record store), I didn't have the balls to tell all those that messaged me and tell them all my offer was a grand. I thought people would think I was crazy because I thought it was still worth $500. "Just tell the price" would have been fine, but I still had no clear insight to what an honest value was. Some people after the fact said they would have had no issue paying that amount for it….well it goes both ways…why didn't they mention that?
Anyway, sorry some people got so upset over this…I hate to see what happens when I post the other pinball machines in the future! Now…about those guitars…
