60 in one, not mame. but still, a piece of shit. too bad someone couldn't have just paid someone to fix it instead of turning it into that.

how is it butchered? from the outside it looks like a decent restore, and it still plays donkey kong. looks fine to me. butchered is when someone drills a million holes in a CP, paints over decent side art, hangs an aircraft carrier off the front of it, etc. this one actually looks pretty good, who knows if it had any internals when they bought it in the first place???

Seen one of these in Florida, I think it sold (quickly) at $500.

For a non-collector, this is probably an attractive buy- classic look with "upgraded" screen and a nice restored cabinet, plus 60 games in one. Lets face it, these things sell to people looking to throw one in their home theater or entertainment room and they don't care about originality or playing on the original monitor or pcb.

I wouldn't say butchered either, just not my kind of game for sure...

well thats a scratch built cab with a horizontal monitor and ugly ass CP, you couldnt even play DK properly on that monitor... but at least no classics were used.

^^MAME and a 19" LCD >_<

Absolute blasphemy, people like this shouldn't be allowed to touch an arcade game.

Man that looks nice. Hope the one im doing turns out that nice:eek: I currently restoring 4 donkey kongs to original. My 5th machine was converted in the 80's to chelnov atomic runner. all the Dk parts were gutted, and the machine is now jamma. Its going to make a beautiful 60-1. Cant save them all.

All I can say about that guy is I hope he didnt gut a complete DK. But if he had a Chelnov or similar, all the more power to him. One of these DK 60-1's sold on the bay a few months ago for over $1400 IIRC:eek:

I agree with those saying this isn't butchered at all. If the sides were cut to put on a larger control panel or something I'd agree with your assessment, but that looks like to could be easily reverted to original and be a very nice game!

I "upgraded" my Van Gogh painting by taking a hi-res photo of it and putting the digitial picture in one of those new digital frames where you can put any picture in it and even record a little something and it will play it back for you. I recorded me saying "Happy Birthday Me" on there! I just threw the original painting in the trash. Who needs it with all the awesome upgrades I did!

Agreed. My DK upright was gutted when I bought it so I went with the decision to wire it JAMMA and run an original board through an adapter. It's not 100% original, but it beats letting a cabinet get trashed or truly mamed.
