I seem to be short a few caps on a Hantarex capkit. I know the caps (4 total), but looking online I can't seem to find a decent place to order single caps. Buying 10packs seems wasteful and 9 dollars for shipping seems insane(again for 4 caps). Anyone got a link to a good place to order single caps??

Thanks

What do you need and where do you live? It is possible that Radio Shack has the caps you need (doubtful, but possible) or a Fry's electronics is very likely to have what you need.

If I have the caps you need I can send them to you in a padded mailer envelope, that is most likely the cheapest method to get the caps...

I checked Radio Shack online. Don't have them. I don't know if they stock stuff in stores that's not online.

I need :

1uF 100v
22uF 250v
22uF 50v
10uF 250v

I'm in PA, we don't have Fry's our way so I'll have to check online. If you have them let me know what you want for them.

Thanks

Mouser is a great place to order small quantities from.

Both Great Plains Electronics and Big Daddy Electronics sell single caps. They cater more to the pinball crowd, but are a great resource for parts.

I concur. Ed at Great Plains Electronics is awesome.

Pennsylvania really needs an electronics warehouse close by. I found a few commercial supply warehouses, one is in Bridgeport but most of them are hesitant to do "retail style" sales, as it's not a bread and butter for them. Also, I don't use the ones I know about for capacitors, as I have no idea how long they've been sitting on the shelves.

We need a Fry's electronics here in PA, they carry a bunch of the NTE equivalent parts which makes life awesome for hobbyists.

Yeah we need a Fry's in PA for sure. I've seen them out west. would be nice to get one our way.

If you're OK with waiting a few extra days, you can always piggyback on to someone else's order, and have them send them in a small padded envelope first class mail as soon as they arrive.

Another viable option is Digi-Key, they offer First Class mail as a shipping option, and many of their caps are available in a minimum quantity of 1. Watch the price breaks, though, sometimes it's cheaper to buy 10 instead of the 4 you need b/c the extended price will be less based on the 10+ price break. Then you've got spares on hand for your collection :)

Shipping from Digi-Key via First Class Mail has always been in the $2-3 range. I'm going to be ordering a filter cap from them soon, so if you need anything else, let me know and I'll tag something on to the order for you.

I get my components from partsexpress.com You likely won't find an easier company to deal with. If you know exactly what you want, they will have it.

Order 10 of each and then some generic useful stuff. The shipping should be less than 20% of the total price. If not, order some more stuff until it is.
