Have a chance to pick up a couple pins, looking for some opinions and price thoughts on

Six Million Dollar Man and The Incredible Hulk

What do you guys think?

The Incredible Hulk

how much ?

battery has probably corroded the CPU on that Gottlieb system 1
if it doesnt boot and play then that could be the problem
replacement CPU's cost 215.00 plus shipping

hows the playfield ? worn areas down to bare wood ?
if so, then its not worth much. 50 bucks max

What you want to look for on those machines is:

1. The playfield... how good a condition is it? A major aspect is going to be are the inserts concave and shrunk? Gottliebs of that age, if they're not taken care of will have all the inserts bowed, which makes gameplay really ugly and sometimes gets the ball trapped - those inserts can be leveled but it's very time consuming to do so.

2. Check the artwork. The condition of the artwork on the playfield and backglass is key to the game being a good deal.

3. For GS1s, expect that you'll put at least $200-$400 into the machine to get them working if any of the boards are out. At that point, it's better to get a PI-X4 and replace all the boards, but also expect to have to re-pin a good bit of the connectors.

The end result is, you learn a lot about pinball and restoration, but you probably put more money into the game than you could get out if you sell. This is an endemic issue with early Gottliebs, but if you like the game, the extra features you can get out of Pascal Janin's new MPU boards are wort it.

Thanks guys

I was told both pins are in working order but have yet to see for myself.I'm going to see them tomorrow so I'll take some pics.

Trust me, they're not going to be in working order. There's always something wrong, especially with those old system 1s unless you're buying them from a collector who knows how to maintain them.

If they're playable then you're in good shape. There will inevitably be minor problems but "working order" at a minimum means they should boot up and knock a ball around. That's what it means to me anyway.

I tend to use ebay sales as a baseline for price. Both of those games are fairly common so there should be lots of examples:

Six Million Dollar Man is a Bally machine using a -35 MPU. Cheap and easy to fix. Hulk on the other hand is a Gottlieb system 1 machine. Not difficult to fix either but can break in un-fixable ways (spider ships on the MPU). If it's booting and playing then it will be an easy restoration.

I would let the condition of the playfield and backglass be the deciding factor for me. As well as price, obviously.
