Looking to get some thoughts on what you guys think would be a better solution.

Option 1. - Try to find a similar wood grain laminate with black leather t-molding
Option 2 - Black laminate, bright green t-molding and smaller version of the UR side art.

I am leaning toward Option 2, but am having second thoughts on what to do. HELPZ!

I'm building a Galaga cabaret now around a Nintendo NES system as the brain. I got most of the original Galaga cab parts used but I have to build the cab and use an old 13" monitor I had. I was going to use woodgrain but in checking prices and trying to get one piece for the entire width, it either was a pain to find or the price was crazy high. Someone here did a Missle command I think it was, and used two pieces of Contact brand woodgrain to fit the sides. I did not want a seam on mine.

So since it's not an original, I am going with satin black painted sides (sanded between coats) and front and side art and no one should hate me for not using woodgrain! :)

Check out this thread and scroll to Andys80s post, I got my side and front art from him. Andy does great work!

I'm not a purist, so I would definitely go with the laminate. I just think it would look far more appealing than wood grain.

I think I have made my mind up to go with woodgrain after reading the replies. I like the option of the lime green tmolding but it just feels like if I go that route there is just too much black on the cab. I like the woodgrain/black contrast from the inside to the outside of the cab.

I placed an order for some laminate samples today and will be posting what they look like when they arrive.

Cool! Any choice is a good one really.

I already have a mini and cocktail in woodgrain, so I am excited to paint up my mini for example.

Good choice, woodgrain + black leather t-molding = sexy.

Here are some of the laminate samples I got today and thought I would post them. They are all from Wilsonart and I think the closest to the original is the Montana Walnut. Agree?

I laminated both sides of the cab today with the Wilsonart Montana Walnut and thought I would post the results.

Looks good!

Going to do the front panel too then?

Yeah, I did the front panel yesterday. I will get some pictures up tonight. It was a little more cumbersome because the panel could not be removed, but it turned out well.
