There is one for sale locally for $2500. I have never played one, but the reviews on IPDB make it seem like it's one of the best playing pinballs ever. Anyone here played one? Also is $2500 a fair price?

I think it's the best Sega pin, that's for sure. The game sells pretty high, as it has a good theme, lots of fun shots, and the machine looks pretty impressive visually. I generally see them go between $2,200 and $2,500 depending on condition, but at times they'll dip right down to $1,500 just "because it's a Sega pin".

I probably wouldn't spend $2,500 on it, but I wouldn't say that anybody paying that much is getting fleeced, either.

Note: These tend to go MUCH cheaper on eBay, typically in the $1,500-$1,800 range for some reason.

I bought one last year for $1000 ..granted, it needed to be fixed a bit and shopped out...I ended up not wanting to bother since I knew it wasn't a keeper, and just sold it for $1100 (what I had into it...I had bought some parts and a new translight)

It's a good game - if you get it at a $1000-ish price. At $2500, no way. Batman Forever is kind of a "Poor Mans STTNG" ...for $2500, just get a STTNG!!!

(I think it's a cool LOOKING game, but the sound gets REALLY annoying. During the "?" Mode, every target hit plays the clip "RIDDLE ME THIS!" ...once you've heard that 50 times you wanna smash the game!)

I do value your opinion, however I think preference of theme is really important in this case. I would choose Batman Forever over STTNG because STTNG's theme doesn't do much for me. BF looks like an awesome game, especially for fans of Batman. People on IPDB seem to think it's a pretty solid game all around as well.

Well, pinpedia seems to be in line with what people here are saying, 2500 is too much. I would rather have a TNG that's for sure. Maybe I will get lucky and there will be one at the auction next weekend. It was just nice to see something other than the same 10 pins that are on chicago craigslist EVERY DAY!

We need to have this site stickied because it's tied into eBay and shows history.

I feel it's a more reliable source than polling here to small handful of KLOV members saying they would only pay X amount.

The problem is that the private market brings about wildly different sales prices because collectors are more discerning about condition than general public buyers. It's why a Twilight Zone can go for $4,500 on eBay when it probably would have been $2,800 between collectors or that someone might see their game get far less on eBay then they would have reeled in on a local classified or Mr. Pinball.

Well, most people appreciate STTNG as an awesome pin without necessarily being ST fans...but if you absolutely HATE ST...well, there ya go. Still, you have to keep things in perspective - Batman Forever, while pretty cool - isn't one of those MUST HAVE COLLECTOR games, and the price usually reflects that. For $2500 you can get muuuuuuch sweeter games. Skooter, the guy selling the BF, is a good guy .....I just think he's asking way too much.

I would classify BF as a B-List game. And it seems that B-List games have been hit hard lately, so I would say $2500 is way high. Boston Pin Repair has an eBay summary and the most that a BF has ever sold for on eBay is $2000. Average price is $1485. But if the game is HUO or in Collector Quality Condition, then maybe $2500 is an OK price. In the end it is up to you to decide.

Just my 2 cents
