I'm looking at a Taito Classics upright for sale locally...considering that I'm having issues with EVERY freakin Taito machine in my gameroom, I'm wondering if this might be the way to go. Frankly, the only games in it that interest me are Qix, ZooKeeper and Jungle Hunt. Guy wants 500.00 for it. Is it worth it? What kind of monitor does it use? Anyone here actually have on e& like it? Thanks for any input!
Here's a link of what I'm talking about:

I really wish there was a Taito classics multiboard that accurately emulated ALL of the games that went in the classic Taito style cabinet. Everything I've seen so far has been a compromise to say the least, right?

from what little i've played on my board (still building a cab for it) the emulation on Zoo Keeper and Bubble Bobble alone make it worth the price. both play pretty darn well.

Hmm, it sounds like it might be OK then....I just thought it was something on the order of that Bally/Midway/Wms machne that came out a few years ago..remember the one they were pushing @ Target & some wholesale clubs? REAL cheezy cab. IIRC, it was broken down & you had to assemble once you got it home. Wonder whatever became of them?

I've owned a few taito bar top cabs.. Wanted to make a taito multi at one point cause ZK and Qix are so tough to keep working.. Well, I'm not a fan of the half screen or whatever it is for ZK on the emulated pcb.. So that was the deal killer for me.. I own and or have owned most of the titles on that game, controls are eh.. As I hate micros.. Gameplay is ok.. Whatever works for u and it's cheap.

the boards are JAMMA standard except for the menu button (runs off the tilt/slam switch.)

i think the Zoo Keeper screen is a little compressed to one side but i recall seeing that on a few dedicated cabinets i've played as well. it didn't bother me but then again maybe i was just happy that i could play ZK at home without spending a fortune.

$500 isn't bad for what it is. Those cabs are solid and well-built by (I'm pretty sure) Chicago Gaming Company.

Find a multi taito board (which I have one for sale) and put a jamma harness in your current taito cab and be done with it. You won't come close to spending $500 this way. I run a seperate jamma harness in my Zookeeper so when it quits on me I have the multi to use. The original harness is not hacked or touched. Just make a new control panel harness to fit both the original and multi.

Speaking of ZK jamma stuff.. I think that Mark Spaeth made a small run of ZK/Qix jamma adapters.. So you could run jamma games in your dedicated taito cabs.. This would be perfect for these pcbs.. No idea if he sold out of them though..

He's got them listed on his site as of yesterday...

If it's in good shape that is a great deal. People in my area are fighting for the 20-1 game boards. Problem is when you get them your only option is to put it into a Taito standard cab since there is no proper art on teh market. Rich is still toying with creating some now that he has one of these boards.

The board alone is worth around 250-300$ if it is the 20-1 and not the 10-1 version. I would have paid the extra 200$ for the cabinet, controls, monitor.....

I LOVE my 20-1 taito. I play it more than any arcade in my collection. I used to play the crap out of Elevator Action, Jungle Hunt, Space Invaders, SI deluxe, and Qix. There are other good titles on this board too like Bubble Bobble, Lunar Rescue, Rastan, and Zoo Keeper.

I really like the game play on the board and I am not sure about the original but I am using a Wico Leaf Joystick and Wico buttons on the currrent set-up.
