Hi there,
is Circus Voltaire fun to play? Anyone got a review?

I see that an upcoming DLC pack for the Pinball Arcade has it bundled with Funhouse and unfortunately due to me owning Williams Collection for Wii, PS3, and 3DS I am sick of Funhouse so I probably won't be buying that DLC. Not unless Circus Voltaire is awesome.

Opinions?

its kinda cool for about a minute game play wise. After that minute is up though, not so much.I think there are better long term "A" listers to own.

I Love it, but you will undoubtedly get a WIDE range of responses.

I lke Popaduik Designs though. LOVE the art, has some clever toys in it.

I think the ringmaster makes the game a bit too much stop and go, but not enought that I don't enjoy playing it. I find the ramps have good flow and there are some good, long shots to be had.

I wish I had one in my colection.

Chris

CV is a great game....plays and looks very different than other machines in my opinion. A very enjoyable and cool looking machine.

I've been playing this in Pinball Arcade and love it... One thing I found when reading up on it is that the game doesn't wear well. Do they get really jacked up around the balloon pop-up or something?

Not if you keep it clean and level. I've had mine since 2008, I think...game looks the same as when I got it. Honestly, once a game is in home use, the likeliness if it getting thrashed is pretty slim.

As for the game - I love it....everything about it. I love the loop shot around the Ringmaster's head, love the sound and music, the low DMD, the neon, the Boom Balloon bumper, the Menagerie ball, the ramp magnet, the juggler. It's just one of those games that plays great, looks great, sounds great...it's truly a complete and unique experience, IMO.

Except for owning mine for 10 years longer, yeah, what he said! :)

Not played this pin much at all, but I think its one of the best looking pins ever, if not the best. Its just gorgeous, and probably even better looking than Tron LE.....although its a really close race. As for the play, I honestly think I would enjoy the game more without the head popping out of the playfield. But I figure any williams pin will be enjoyable if you owned and played them for a good amount of time. And that being said, I've yet to grow to like TZ. And I think it looks great as well.

Excellent machine ! Looks great, plays great, ..
you do need to install the 2.0 homerom to have the best gameplay.
Novices like it because the rules are simple and obvious (shoot the ringmaster, looks spectacular when it comes up and grabs the pinball), but for experienced players also great because you can stack multiballs and go for high scores..

Well thanks very much for all the advice, but I think I'll pass when the DLC comes out. Plenty other tables I'd rather play and I'm really "that" tired of Funhouse that I'm not going to bother. Maybe someday if FarSight has the DLC on sale, in which case I'll play Circus Voltaire and ignore Funhouse entirely.
No offense to the Funhouse fans, it is a great pinball machine, but too much of a good thing can make me tired of it.

Phenominal BW Title IMO.

Out of the BW games I own, CV is one of my all-time favorites.

Top JPOP as well IMO.

??? What is the price of a single table, like $3-4? This game is worth much more in terms of entertainment value IMO. It's less than the price of a single beer in a bar! ANd less than any one of several Starbucks blended drinks. Even at minimum wage, you could earn the cost of this game in about half an hour, and it'll be fun for a lot longer than that!

Used to hate it. I wouldn't even play it cause I thought it looked fruity. It was literally pinball repellent when I would see it on route. I got passed that and I have enjoyed playing it. Not super deep or difficult, but fun. I would never buy one for the prices it commands, way too many better games for less, but I would get it for Xbox 360 and play it on there.

I'd never played it before getting the table in Pinball Arcade on my iPad and fell in love with it. Great game.

Wanted it, got one, and after about a month it just didn't seem to fit in to my tastes. I owned it for about 4-5 months total, and I don't miss it now. I really wanted to like this title, but it just got old to me.

Of course I traded mine for a WH20 and Shadow, so I have no regrets looking back!

Oh, and it's definitely a "fruity" title, no doubts about that! :) I found that some liked it just because it was unique and women liked it more than men when I had guests.

I always liked playing them when a friend of mine bought them (I seem to remember him having 2-3). My favorite Popaduik for sure. I can see where some people would move on with it. As much as I like Popaduik's designs, the game software seems on the shallow side. I sold my TOTAN after a year or so for that reason. YMMV.

+1
