opinion's on arkanoid

I was watching that same one. If I hadn't just bought a Chase HQ, I would've snagged it.

I don't have any more room for cabinets and need to get rid of four as it is. But it was amazing to me it didn't get a single bid.

I do however have an Arkanoid: Revenge of Doh cocktail. I'm just trying to decide if I should put the game board back in, convert it to a multi-game, or convert it back to Galaxian (which is what the cocktail cabinet was originally) before I get rid of it.

Well, I got the guy down to $110.00 im going to pick it up tonight providing the cab is not a beater.

If you had a dollar for every machine that was converted to arknoid back in the day you could retire. So at some point it must have made a ton of money. Personally I dont recall ever seeing one in the wild and the only one I have played is a board I repaired.

When I was around 11-12, Arkanoid was everywhere. And, because I lived in a small town, more than a few of the ones I saw were in the same cabinets I'd remembered playing on previously - as other games.

yeah, the worst i've seen was a tempest to arkanoid conversion.

my personal thought - i wouldn't own an arkanoid cab, i feel like it is mainly a geared toward women game. it is a great time waster to play on the crapper. i have it on my cell phone for that reason.

The only one I ever saw/played was a midway cocktail converted to an Ark. Restaurant in Yonkers, NY had it in it's bar/lounge area. Charlie Brown's Steakhouse. My dad and I used to look forward to going there; me for the game, him for the steak and Jack Daniels on the rocks.

Hmmm. That might explain why when I lose at Arkanoid I get upset and then sit in front of the TV with a half gallon of ice cream and watch the Lifetime channel.....

maybe it'll get my wife in my room, wait a minute! on the other hand maybe i should reconsider. just kiding, leaving in an hour.

Yeah I have Arkanoid 2: The Revenge of DOH, and Arkanoid AAAAAAAAAND Tournament Arkanoid.
I am putting the Arkanoid board with the JAMMA adapter into my Revenge of Doh cab. Not sure what I am going to do with the tournament board. I dont' think it is JAMMA.
Really fun game. People like it.
And my apartment has many leather bound books and smells of rich mahogany.

I've been looking for an Arkanoid in my area for a while, no dice. It is a coworkers favorite game of all time and I like to look out for favorite games for friends and colleagues. So far, I've been looking for it the longest. Already hooked up an Asteroids Deluxe, Tetris, Dig Dug, and working on a Black Knight 2000 for buddies. This one has me feeling guilty that I can't find one.

I notice you play a lot of games on the crapper. Is that the new thing? :D

Arkanoid and Tournament Arkanoid have the same pin-outs, but Arkanoid R.O.D. is JAMMA.

I made adaptors and PCB supports for my friend to allow him to play all three in his converted Q*Bert cabinet.

For the record...
I gave Arkanoid the rank of 35 out of the 50 greatest arcade games of all time.

I got it home works great, the cab looks rough but it's just the paint peeling off. It's not real pretty but theres not to much damage to the cabinet. Anyone know what cab this was? there is red paint showing around the base. Also the CP has an abrupt edge on it, is there an overlay that comes all the way down? sorry for the quality of pics, cell phone.

It's a Stargate cab. Only cab that looks like that.

My first of 2 games picked up were an Arkanoid and a dual monitor PC-10.

I ended up getting every Arkanoid board (Original, DOH, Tournament and I think I have some other version; still looking for Arkanoid Returns though (Taito F3)). Plus a couple boots of the original Ark.

I also picked up a few more spinner games like Goindol that are basically clones of Ark but different.

I intended to use some 4-way printer port switches to let me flip between the games--since they use very few wires. Haven't ever finished that project yet :(

I was telling the guy i bought it from that I thought it was a stargate, Im bad at cab ID's but I was right this time.

Hurray for an original spinner on this one! If it's grinding and you need help/advice on how to fix it up, hit me up via PM. I've taken apart and fixed three of them myself.

Thanks but the spinner works great, nice and smooth and from an earlier post in this thread it DOES have a G07 in it so I guess $110.00 wasnt to bad although I suck at the game but getting better.

Yep, the monitor alone was worth the price of admission. If it's a burn free tube, then you my friend have doubled your money.

It does have some burn but not too bad, after sanding, painting and cleaning it looks pretty good. I have no ldea about the last level? Im barely on the 5th thats without using the warp thing, how many levels are there?
