I've been on the fence with this one for a while. He's posted It a few time's and got lower every time. I just don't remeber the game play, look's like breakout. So If it's not that memorable not sure if i wan't it although i am 40. I could probably pick it up for $100.00 anybody have one? do you play it? do other people play? just curious.

Btw is that it's original cab? (Im terrible at cab ID's)

I picked one up last year for cheap and it has become one of my favorite games that I own. Anyone can play it and everyone knows how. Its one of my most played games.

I like Arkanoid. Brings back good memories, too.

To me, that looks like a Stargate cab. The only dedicated Arkanoids came in countertop/bartop cabinets (and yes, they were dedicated - meaning yes, Arkanoid did come dedicated).

Im VERY space restricted! So that's why I ask. I can get 1 more game right now and this one Is cheap.

Love the game. I think its a great game to have if you have the space and already have a few 'must haves'

Arkanoid is a really fun game. I've only played it a few times, but very enjoyable! If you've ever been a fan of Breakout/Super Breakout, you'll "get it" and love it immediately...

Really great series. It's breakout, but with some clever twists to the core design (enemies deflecting the ball, power ups for your paddle, different bricks having special attributes). Probably the best "brick n' ball" games ever made. Try it.

Quick story: One day 10+ years ago I picked up a Revenge from Doh. I had to store it in my dad's garage and he begrudgingly agreed. He didn't like video games at all and didn't "get" them (in his mid-50's at this point). Next week I stop by and he is complaining the spinner isn't working quite right. My Mom tells me a day or so after I left, he had decided to turn the thing on and see what the big deal was. From that moment on he had been playing it every night that week. When the spinner started acting weird, he went so far as to try and spray WD-40 on the control board of the spinner. Not a good idea at all, but he was a hot rod/car guy. WD-40 fixes everything in his world.

If my old man enjoyed it that much, I can't imagine anyone absolutely NOT enjoying Arkanoid on some level.

well if i have a claim to fame , i have beat this game a few times , one credit , no continues [ my game must be pinned out for no continue ] as i have never seen a continue on it , this game is way better than Breakout , you get power ups , the pink pill lets you get out the screen thru the side trap door !! , and as you get up to the high stages , there is caramel colored bricks that you cannot get rid of , so all of a sudden , it gets real hard to get to the bricks you can !! , the end is WTF ? material , awsome game , $100 bucks ? thats a steal , BTW the original i played was an upright , Arkanoid uses a rotary knob , no joystick . oh i have a post up on Arkanoid , it gives good tips on how to beat Doh at the end , i can beat him with 1 man usually if you follow how i do it , also , a big session on this game , will give your eyes " welders Flash " , looks like you have used acid for eye wash ! HAHA >

Lol. That's funny stuff. My dad doesn't get it either; just looks at me weird when he hears I picked up another cab. Only game he ever played/likes is Operation Wolf.

I really like Arkanoid; I was actually planning on building one if I found an empty cab. I bought a complete, working kit on eBay a couple months ago for around $35; in really good condition too. When I'm done snagging all my other wants, I'll definitely add it to the collection. I know some people here hate the game just for the fact that it killed a lot of classics when ops converted games to Ark.

A true classic from the post golden era. One of the few games that gets away with being a conversion only... It's really fun if you take the 90 minutes or so and play through the whole game with continues. It's still challenging even with the continues because you must beat each level with the lives you are given, otherwise that level resets when you continue. For $100, you can't argue - you'll be able to sell it for that much if you get tired of it.

Arkanoid is a great game. It gets a lot of play from guests and even my wife. For $100 it's worth it. I paid $150 for mine but the cab was really nice.

Arkanoid is great, esp if you have an original working spinner. I like R.O.D. a little better b/c there are so many more crazy power-ups and multiple paths to the game, but the original is definitely fun, esp. for $100. I've owned a cocktail and standup R.O.D. before, but now I just have the standup.

I have a Tournament Arkanoid. It actually was my first arcade I ever bought, I got it for $180. The cabinet needs some work (new back door and monitor mount needs to be fixed/replaced so monitor isn't off-center); but I still love the game. Have to agree with other people, that it's the best "brick 'n ball" game. For $100, that's a deal; I would grab it.

I'm actually building a 'dedicated' Arkanoid for my office. My brother works with me now and it's his favorite game of all time. I'll be using a Sega/Gremlin cab and then making custom art for the sides and bezel. I vectorized the marquee a few years ago and I know there is a matching CPO out there somewhere. I have 3 spinners, hopefully I can make one complete/working one out of the 3.
