Hey guys I have an opportunity to get a Rush the Rock and was wondering if you guys could give me some opinions of the gameplay.

I am looking for pros and cons.

Also any concerns with the cabinet/hardware would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Great friggin' game, probably my favorite driver right there with 2049. The only thing I can think of that you might run into is either a monitor chassis or tube issue. Those seem to be the biggest fail points in the cab.

7 tracks that you can play regular or mirrored, 12 different vehicles and a ridiculous amount of fun little secrets and shortcuts scattered pretty heavily throughout each track. If you have the chance to later get another it adds even more fun to the package being able to race side by side with a friend.

I have a Rush 2049 and I love it. At first I honestly started rethinking the purchase of it but everyone plays it a lot including me. The only issues I had to deal with was neglect, steering needed an overhaul and the whole thing needed cleaned. As long as no one has beat the crap out of it you should be good with replacing the steering belt and potentiometer if there's an issue with the steering.

I bought a SF Rush on a whim at auction, and then upgraded it to Rush the Rock. It's turned out to be the most popular game in my collection. Lots of fun to play.

These usually have Neotec monitors in them. Many of those had Zenith tubes - which are crap (lousy picture, dead guns, etc). Make sure that the one you're looking at has a good picture.

If it's an original Rush cabinet that was upgraded, then it is a one-piece cabinet. If it's a dedicated Rush the Rock, then the cabinet splits into two pieces.

The hard drive can be pretty easily replaced with a compactflash card.

Awesome feedback guys! I appreciate it!

It does have a NeoTec that apparently needs a flyback.

Keep the good info rolling! :D

The game always has play in my collection. I have the compact flash upgrade on it. Also, if you have forcefeedback not working then there is an easy fix for that now. Someday I look forward to picking up a second one as they can be linked for network play.

I love my Rush The Rock. I'd love to find a 2nd one but frankly... I've re-considered as space is at a premium and frankly, I play my games alone more often than with a bunch of friends (yes... I'm an introverted loser.)...

I got T2 because of the "Co Op Play". I must have played it a half dozen times with my friends... total. Whoops.

Most of my friends aren't in to arcade games... or video games... just hunting, guns, trucks, quads, beer and broads...

It seems like a lot of people go from Rush the Rock and then move on to 2049. I am not sure why. I know there is a tournament play but maybe someone can tell me why 2049 seems to be the more desirable one.

Better graphics... higher resolution (hires vs medium res)...

It's a fun game too (I played it at CAX). I think I like the current year car selection of RTR vs the futuristic cars though.

Rush the Rock > 2049 in my opinion.

Two is FAR better than one, so make space. Is my favorite racing game and is probably the most plated game at parties in my garage Cade.

possibly the best arcade driving game ever made. As people have mentioned the monitors aren't the greatest and have some issues. Other than this the only other down side is the hard drive which can be replaced.

I still stand by my ranking of this game as the 23rd best arcade game of all time. And as far as drivers go, it is only trumped by the magnitude of Pole Position in its ranking. PP was ranked as 18th, making it unofficially the best arcade racing game.
