Opinions Needed on trading Addams Family for Twilight Zone

Hello Everyone!

I need your thoughts and opinions on possibly trading my Addams Family for a Twilight Zone. I wanted an Addams Family ever since I first played it back in '94. I finally got one about six months ago. My girlfriend and I played the crap out of it and we don't really play it anymore because I think we have done everything the game has to offer. I really like Twilight Zone and haven't played it much, but I know it's a great game and would like to have one.

I lost my job a while ago and am not able to put much towards a game. I currently have a Dirty Harry, No Fear and TAF. The only one that I think is going to get me near a TZ is going to be TAF. I really don't want to get rid of the game, but we don't play it much anymore and I would like to replace it one day with a TAF gold edition one day anyway.

What are your thoughts on this? Do people trade pinballs around much when they get burnt on one and don't have the $ to add to their collection?

i would keep the TAF, trade the No fear and the dirty harry, or sell them. TAF is going up in price a lot lately. TZ is a $5k game all day. TAF is very close in price but I will never get rid of mine. I dont think a gold addams is worth it at all. You can add gold roms and most of the gold goodies very easily to a regular machine. Every now and then I take a break from TAF for awhile. WHen I come back to it, I remember how much I love it.

nathanp,

I'm with you on that man. Shortly after I made my post I was thinking about I should sell/trade Dirty Harry and/or No Fear to get a TZ. I think you are right about keeping Addams. The only thing I was thinking about if I traded my TAF for a TZ is that I could always trade the TZ back for a TAF, but I think letting DH and/or NF go is a smarter move. I wish I could keep them all, but it's not in the cards right now. I was thinking about adding LEDs, a couple mods to TAF to get me back in it.

I think you should sell a machine or two and build a simulator. You can buy everything you need for under $2500 and you'll never get bored of it. I think TAF and TZ are very comparable games, but in the end, you will always tire of any one game. Of course this is resolved by taking a break from the game, but still, to have a couple of hundred tables in your home is priceless.

I played a simulator last week and I really didn't like it. There was a major delay and it was hard to see all the details/features on the playfield. This one may have had inferior components, but until I play a better one I'm going to stick with the real thing. I see what you are saying and you are right about having many tables at your fingertips. Maybe I will play a good one and it will change my mind about virtual pins.

I appreciate your input!

unless the pin market is quite different where you are, selling the NF and DH won't get you nearly enough cash to buy a TZ; you'd be short by a thousand or two at least. TAF and TZ are pretty similarly valued machines and finding a straight trade might not be that hard.

that being said, i'd rather have TAF and TZ and if i didn't have my heart set on keeping either NF or DH i'd try to sell them and save up the difference first.

I have pretty much decided to cool my jets on getting a TZ. I have decided that I don't want to get rid of my Addams Family and am on the fence about trading DH and NF off. Plus NF is my girlfriend's favorite game and I may be in the dog house if I get rid of it! LOL

Yeah I was thinking the same thing about the value of DH and NF both not being enough money to get a TZ.

I appreciate your input!

I have both and I like TAF more. TZ has more modes, but as an overall package and for shots, I like TAF better.

TZ has always felt like a collection of un-related mini-games to me. Also, there are so many more toys to break! I always seem to have a credit dot.

Al, the main reason I was thinking about getting TZ is that it seems like my girlfriend and I play a pinball until we get/beat all the modes and grow tired of the game. I have heard TZ is one of the most complicated pins out there. As for my TAF I'm just going to let it sit and not play it for a while and then go back to it and hope it feels somewhat "fresh" to me again.

I haven't played TZ enough to know that it seems like a bunch of unrelated mini-games so that is kind of a turn off towards it, or at least I'll tell myself that until I can afford one. LOL

Yeah those credit dots are annoying and it amazes me how quickly I can go from having a perfectly operating machine to one that needs a few things fixed. LOL

Thanks Al!

Horrible advice. How about he dump his girlfriend for a blow up doll while he is at it.

Yes, waiting is the best advice, you will find that waiting will afford you the opportunity to get what you want for a good price.

If you are looking for a complex pin, other suggestions would be ST:TNG, LOTR and Demolition Man. Demolition man is a bargain Williams widebody, my friend has it and it is great.

I have both Taf and Tz also. Find both fun in their own way. I always find Taf a little easier to tour the mansion, Than complete all the one's on Tz. I always find a good waxing and cranking back leg up and front all the way down makes the pin a lot harder to conquere. Ive still never got to the lost in the zone on Tz(without cheating) But have toured the mansion a few times.

Yeah I'm just going to sit back and keep an eye out for a TZ at a good price and try and keep from impulse buying. LOL

I won't be able to afford a ST:TNG for quite a while. I haven't played a Demoliton Man so I'll have to do some research on it and keep an eye out for one.

Thanks!

I hate all you guys that have both TAF and TZ!! J/K LOL

Yeah my girlfriend has got tour the mansion a couple time on one credit, ours is set for 5 balls though. That's a good idea about waxing it and changing the angle to make it more complicated. The first time we clean and waxed the playfield it was like a whole new game it kicked our a$$es! LOL

Thanks!

I've owned two TZ over the past decade. One was lightly used, near mint, never gave me any problems and the other was HUO with an extra NOS clock in the box from day one, never any issues. I regrettably sold both... well, because as they say "everything is for sale at the right price". Well, I can tell you that the third time is the charm and as soon as I can add another TZ to my collection, it'll be a title that never leaves. Nearly all of my friends and relatives that ever played TZ found it easy to relate to at least something in the TZ genre. It was always a hit in the gameroom.

Wax the playfield good, crank angle and set on 3 ball no extra's and game will be super challenging!!

The crane is fun, and I love the handles. You will want to get the alternate sound roms too.

Demolition man looks pretty cool! Thanks for the youtube links!

What do they normally go for?

You're not helping me tone down my "need" for TZ!!! LOL
Sounds like you have had a couple pretty awesome machines. I hope you got good $ out of them because they are pretty expensive now

I've always been a TZ fan, started watching it with my father when I was a young boy, and still watch it today so I'm a pretty big fan. Why do all the pins I like have to be the most expensive ones out there! LOL
