Ok, so I have a DK cab I'm restoring but the cab is all but gutted. The original wiring was trashed and JAMMA-TIZED. PS is gone but there is a transformer (I think?) at the bottom of the cab.

I'm thinking the easiest, cleanest (probably safest) thing to do is put a brand new harness and PS in there.

The question is, do I go jamma or with a new DK harness?

I will likely be putting in a DK board but may (now or later) also use a multi in it...If I do that, I could use a Nin -> Jamma adapter to still play the DK board...If I do DK harness, not sure if I am then stuck...

Thoughts?

If you want to be a purist then you'll spend what ever amount of money needed to make it happen.

If you just want a working machine Jammatize and either use a 60-1 or if you already have a PCB buy the adapter and be done with it.

well, here's the thing...If I put an 'original' harness in it (Btw, I think someone sells them?) is there an adapter to play a jamma board on it if I wanted to throw a 60-1 in it at some point?

Put both harnesses in there. :D

(Yeah, I know, not financially viable)

so does anyone know? Is there an adapter out there that lets you play jamma games on a nintendo harness/cab like DK?

No, there is no such adapter but I think Mark could make it or is making it or looked into doing it or something like that. :)

You can always simply make one. You need:

Fingerboard to fit DK harness.
Jamma edge connector
Wiring diagrams for both.

I made an adapter to go from 1942 to Jamma. It was tedious, but straight forward.

I say run it as an original DK and save the JAMMA project for another cab. Nintendo wiring is among the easiest to replace since it's totally plug and play and somewhat fool proof.

I did this (sorta). I picked up a Blue nintendo cab that had been painted black and has a Bionic Commando sticker on one side, but was completely stripped. I now have it as a playing Vs. cab with all original parts. I bought a power supply, harness and control panel from a guy who was parting one out. Stuck in a speaker and a 20EZ, and it's working.

Eventually I'll get around to redoing the cab. I already have Vs. artwork for it, but no space or time to do it...

That is very true. I have 2 of 3 pieces of the DL harness around here somewhere if you are interested and think I may have a few of the cabinet parts too, which you probably already have, including a speaker (from a stripped wide body Mario Bros. many years ago).

THANKS!

I think I'll go DK/Nintendo harness...I'd still like a 48:1 in something (i have one in my Galaga but its set to boot direct to Galaga)...Maybe a pac someday.

Arcadeshop has a complete DK/Nintendo harness and PS that I think I'll use. A little pricey at $125 but its new, its plug and play and most of all, its available!
