Opinions needed: Converting a Xevious to a Star Wars...worth it?

We picked up a Xevious that needs some work earlier today, and I never realized its the same cab Star Wars uses. Would it be worth it to keep it as a Xevious, or convert it to Star Wars?

Its definitely definitely NOT a converted SW cab then. I'd know that cab shape anywhere I apparently need to get my eyes checked. Seems that the dedicated SW cab and the Xevious cab, while similar, are NOT the same. My bad, folks... damn, here I thought I had struck gold lol

if you do decide to convert....i know there is a guy on ebay that stripped his sw ur and is selling everything in pieces for it. that was a few days ago...dont know whats left...he was pretty much selling everything...except the side art...

Another thing I would also note is Xevious machines are not as an easy find as they used to be. I remember back then, a simple search on Ebay for 'Xevious' would yield of tons of results. Today, not so much. Not sure what happened to them all the past 20 years....

Converted and/or parted out I'd imagine. It is one of those games that most people won't pay more than $150-250 (to this day when these pop up on local CL they just sit like a rock for a while) for which makes it an attractive candidate for that sort of thing.

There's no doubt in my mind that, after Atari got ahold of the game, they took a close look at it and said, "Men, dress up the cabinet like crazy, `cause this game is sort of a dud."

And they did - awesome cabinet. Wish Galaga had come in it, instead.

(Can you plug a Galaga into that harness?)

I agree with your observations. Fewer and fewer are showing-up, at least in the midwest.

Not even close... Xevious is a unique wiring pinout.

Besides, Xevious is an awesome game. I personally really like it! There have also been a number of sequels over the years (checkout KLOV for more details...).
