For those of you that have it, how often does having one of these come in handy? If the Ring tester you have now broke, would you buy another one? Needless to say I'm thinkging about buying one of these and while I would be testing quite a few flybacks, was wondering how crucial these are to the guys that already own one.

I use mine pretty often. However, I primarily use it for testing other transformers, not flybacks. I use it a few times a month while troubleshooting power supplies and monitor chassis. If it were to break I'd try and fix it then replace it. It is not really all that complicated of a device...

I have the Anatek one and use it when I need to test flybacks. I'd definitely get another one. I got the kit and built it myself. Sometimes you just want to eliminate the flyback as a possible issue, especially if you don't have a spare to swap in.

I'm pretty sure Ken Layton uses it, too...
