Opinion wanted: do the cap kit/flyback or leave alone

Hi guys, the WG K7000 in my Outrun is working great despite being 30yo (aside for some minor screen burn). It does have the WG flyback with the white adjustment knobs and from what I have read people suggest to change that regardless whether it is working or not.

Here is my question: if I need to change the flyback I will also do the cap kit. BUT, are any of these absolutely necessary if the monitor is working fine? I have no problems with soldering.

Thanks,

Paris

i would for sure do the cap kit, and the flyback if it is cracked. if it's not cracked i would leave it alone

I would always cap it . The flyback would be optional and you will get opposite opinions I'm sure.

If it's a game I am going to keep, I personally rebuild everything.

+1 on this too and get the best quality caps in a kit so you only do them once. make sure to reflow headers and all higher wattage resistors and other suspect pads and make sure not too much heat or the pads like to vaporize on these. we have the cap kits and any other parts you may want.

If you do a cap kit, I would do the flyback at the same time. Along with reflowing the solder on the larger watt resistors yoke connector and the video input connectors.

Then along another line of thought. If it isn't broke don't fix it.

Thanks guys, I think I will deal with this as needed, since everything is currently working. I will buy the flyback though, just in case it will become a hard-to-find item.
