I have a Hanaho multi-Taito pcb and a painted/converted Zookeeper cab. Because it's MDF and a bit too swollen in too many places, I'm planning to harvest all the hardware and repro it with birch plywood per DPtwiz's excellent sticky. I've already secured a nice Elevator Action kit (glass silk-screened bezel, marquee, populated CPO) from dj_dns, so it's just up to me and my schedule to make this happen (along with a Taito stencil from gamestencils.com). My question is this: Which color combo? 1) tan with brown or 2) light green with dark green or 3) grey with black

A little background - EA was a personal fave (I chose the kit for that reason and due to the 2-button set-up for the multi-Taito). Having said that, my second fave is Jungle King/Hunt. I seem to recall the EA I played BITD was tan/brown, but reality is I don't know - the games were often packed tightly. It may have actually been grey/black generic Taito. For JK/JH I remember the green combo.

I want pics and rationale. I will be the final judge, but the masses will definitely influence me.

Let the thread begin!

i personally like the grey/black combo ala Qix. i haven't yet decided what i'll do for my multi-Taito but i'm going to do Arkanoid in white with blue lettering and border.

Have any of you had any luck with this board filling up the whole monitor screen? I have tried 3 different monitors and none of them will make this board fill the screen width wise. Tried adjusting the width coil and nothing. It is almost like this board was developed for a vertical monitor.

same project...

I am in the middle of the same project with a stripped, painted over qix. I will transfer the guts from my taito gameroom classics into it.

My plan is to make the cab a zoo keeper. Simply one of the prettiest cabs I know. I have the kick plate stencil. Can't seem to find the sides anywhere so will prob just remain solid orange for now. Sseveral people do the marquee and bezel repros - just trying to decide on the best one.

Quarterarcade has prefect cpos so I have the controls ready to go including adding the second button to the panel. Also a tiny black button on the front above the right bolt for the menu button. Looks good. I'll add a pic of this later.

As for that screen question...mine also doesn't fill the full screen. Seems to be just how the board is. Annoying but not as annoying as no game dips or high score save. At some point I'm guessing we will see a new board with these games on it that fixes all these issues.

OK - I hoped to log in to see a little more discussion on the green vs tan topic. And some pics!! Who has pics?! How about some side-by-side pics comparing them? I know Phet and others have done some Taito restos - let's see em and hear about why you painted them the way you did.

This thread is dead already? I know some KLOVers have some opinions about Taito cabs. Bring it!

I'm working on a Zoo Keeper Multi Tatio. No one is selling the side art (i've been looking for 10 months now), so I'm going to do the elevator action style stencils, but in zoo keeper orange and blue. I have the ZK front kick plate art, so I'll use that. It might be a little mis-matched, but I don't have a lot of options.

Ok, here's my own comparison pics from the main site:

Even though the tan/brown combo is more in live with the EA color scheme, I kinda like the of the green/dark green. Although the tan/brown is growing on me...

I am pretty sure that the EA I used to play at Heck's department store had the brown and tan paint scheme. That was more than 25 years ago and I was 8. I could be mistaken. Damn, when did I get old?

I wonder whom came up w/ the Pirate Pete scheme. It's cool, and I like the color pattern, but to my knowledge, no cab has been found yet...

Always been partial to the Jungle King. I saw that someone is selling some artwork for multi taito the other day. I'll poke around later today and see if I can find it again.

However if you already have all of the Elevator Action art work then stencil it Elevator Action and do it properly to look like a dedicated machine. You could leave it in the attract mode for Elev Act during parties and no one would ever know the difference until you drop it back to the main menu.
