Need opinions on this machine. Never seen or played one. Been looking for an original galaga, cant seem to find one. This seems like a good alternative. I found one in excellent condition for $600, local. Seems like a steal. Thanks, Gary.

That's certainly a good deal. The larger monitor and "keep your score when you continue" feature makes some people dislike these but it's one of the most desirable cabs in the current market (outside of classic collectors at least) and I think it's a cool experience. If you aren't after an exact reproduction of the original experience, the emulation is pretty perfect and it's certain to hold up well. I'd go for it, these usually go in the 1-2k range.

I have the batop 25th PAC combo and enjoy that. I'm actually looking for an UR, CT, cabaret of similarity for trade as well-- There's one similar to mine on the mlps/st.Paul CL right now for some bank.

Get an extra CPO if you can to go with it. I have yet to see one that didn't have a crack, or worse, along the CP bend after only a few years.

Considering you can sell the board for $300, and the 25" monitor is worth a bit, too, it's a good price.

Plus, you can play regular Pac-Man on it, too...

I have the 25th Anniversary Cabaret (19") and love it.. it's usually a big hit with guests also. $600 is a good deal if it's 25", but from what I've seen both the 25" and cabaret seem to go for the same price. I've never seen one sell for less that $600, and usually they sell in the $1K range. If the machine is in good shape, you can't go wrong!!

Get it for the good price. Watch for an original Galaga, with the usual wear on the decals. Then, buy the Galaga to restore. Re-sell the reunion game. Profit a bit. Good luck.

Good price, go for it. However, I would definitely switch out the microswitch joystick for an original Pac/Ms. Pac 4 way stick. Pick one up from E-bay if you have to but it will make the play experience more aunthentic. You could put a brand new 4 way stick in there, too but I like the originals best. I cannot stand the constant clicking of the micoswitches when I play a Reunion machine. I like the artwork of the cabinet and CPO. The combo graphic on the front is cool. For my part, I would be tempted to sell the JAMMA PCB and get JAMMA adaptors and a 2 board JAMMA switcher with original PCBs for Ms. Pac and Galaga. Gameplay would be more authentic but it would be a pain in the a** to get and install all of that. At any rate, definitely replace the joystick, unless it doesn't bother you. I don't care for the monitor bezel, mostly due to the fact that the monitor is too big, but I guess I could live with that.

How is the change made from a microswitch to a leaf switch? I want to do the same in my multi-cab but I can't figure out how to make the switch (pun not intended).

You should be able to buy a leaf switch style stick and directly replace your other on with it. Of course, you will have to switch the wiring over from one to the other but its a relatively simple process. Its more difficult if the wiring has been soldered to the switches on the stick.

I got one for a good price and it was in good shape. On the game select screen do the following to play regular Pac : up, up, up ,down, down, down, left, right, left, right, left. the red ghost should turn pink and make the free man sound. Then when you select it Pac will start.

Personaly I would sell of the board set and take that money and turn it into a Arcade shop clone board.

That way you get more games. You would just need to plug two of the start holes. At least the control panel would be perfect for all those 4 way plus 1 button games. Alternatively a 60:1 could also work if you are on a budget.

It already is a multi so would be perfect with more games.

CP joystick holes

Check the CP joystick bolt hole distances. Real re-union CPs have a different joystick than a traditional, original Galaga UR CP.

I picked up a 20th reunion caberet (19" home use, no coin door/etc). I picked it up for about $300ish.... it wouldn't respond to controls.

turned out to be years ago when the problem happened, the board ended up set to require credits.... and obviously there was no way to put credits on the thing :). I reset the config and it works, minus the caps I still need to replace.

Only problem with mine is someone loaded it on its side and put a nasty scratch down the ms Pac artwork on the left side. I'd love to find art for that side, as other than that it is in really nice condition.

Try namco the still have art for the Dk that was released about the same time. It will be pricey but worth a try.

Correct. I had one of these and a 4-way Wico leaf stick fit fine. It made a huge difference in game play.

that is a good idea unless the person is really into Galaga. ArcadeSD doesn't get it quite right, where the NAMCO pcb is spot-on.
