Opinion: Capcom 14 in 1 Multipcb (Cadillacs & Dinosaurs)

I don't know if it's a good start here (first post), asking about a boot/conv multi pcb... but since I heard about this Multipcb I can't stop thinking how Cadillacs & Dinosaurs works on that board. I mean, if all the sounds/music are perfectly played, like an original... It's a Qsound game, how would be possible if the 14-in-1 doesn't include a Q-sound chip (am I wrong?)

Searched every Google's corner for a opinion about that, but I couldn't find any. If anyone could give some words about that, there are plenty of noobs out there (like me) who are fooled easily ^^'

By using old , normal CPS1 boards the music will loop every ten seconds with Qsound games plus you can't get stereo from Q-Sound games (has to be done via RCA jacks)!

These boards work just like the original bar the Q-sound problems and the quality is pretty shoddy just like the 18 in 1 CPS2 ones , lots of horror story's of boards dieing , they rape old original boards to make these .

I see. I'm new into collecting pcbs (just a retroconsole gamer so far), so I'm trying to stay away as much as I can of boots.

I came across a cheap CPS 14 in 1, but really, doesn't look so cheap now you pointed that concern about the music looping every 10 seconds like a regular singleboard bootleg. I was interested only because an original C&D board looks tough to find, harder yet to buy, so would be fine for now.

But definitely no, and here's one good reason

Hehehe ^^

Thanks for the good info.

Of course the original board has 2 suicide batteries , one kills the game and the other the sound if they are removed or die of age , the PCB had to be returned to Capcom for a battery replacement service , these batteries will die sooner or later .

There are ways to remove them though :

I recently bought a Q-Sound " Punisher board " with the batteries removed .

Yep, I'm aware of that. It makes even rarer to find one of those CPS' games.

Punisher is a great game. It feel likes a "Final Fight Turbo" of some sort. Hope to grab a fair deal on that one someday.

I wish I could deal with forums members, but I doubt that since I live in Brazil... So I stick to "Feebay". Shipping to Brazil always ranges $40,00 there...

And yeah, I'm going with the originals... from that list (Capcom 14 in 1), just interested on Final Fight/Megaman. Other ones like Magic Sword/Knights of the Round I play on my SNES lolz ^^', but would consider them for a good price of course.

Don't buy the 14-1 for C&D, it is horrible, the music doesn't not play right at all and that's one of the best things with the game, without it's not nearly as fun. You are better off getting another emulator board like blue elf that atleast gets the music right, granted those boards have their own problems but it's better than the 14-1 speaking from my own experiences,

I did buy a CPS1 14-1 and then returned it just because Cadillacs and dinosaurs music was not even close to passable.

I got the 18 in one and I love it. No problens at all. Will be posting a very thur review on here soon.

I think the problem is that Cadillac & Dinosaurs is sort of CPS 1.5... CPS1 but with Q-Sound...and the 14-in-1 uses standard CPS1 hardware.

I had 2 different Gamebox's with C & D on them, they ran really good. The same speed as the original, and the music sounded great. One thing I remember though is on the level with the village on fire the frame rate dropped alittle until you cleared the fire part.

Oh, didn't see the other replies.

Thanks everybody. Yeah, C&D's music is awesome, I think it's a big part of the experience.

I don't like the "mame boards" at all. It's just Mame, inside a jamma pcb. These "original board multi game pcb" sound at least more "original".

I guess I'll get the CPS 14-in-1 one day just for the classic b'em'ups and Megaman. Of course, if I can find one at a good price, like I found that time.

The CPS 18-in-1 sounds fine, but about CPS 2 games... the originals that I like aren't that rare, and their prices ($100/$200) fit their goodness most of the time.

Really, as much as I love Final Fight (and original hardware), I'm not willing to pay $100/$130 for such a CPS 1 common game. That's why a Cps 14-in-1 sounds better deal to me, depending the price.
