A while back I bought an operation wolf Jap Taito cab with a gun issue. Shots not registering on the screen so usual problem with this game.

I've been chipping away at the issue and trying to work it out but am at a bit of a road block so hoping to hear from owners of this game.

I have a photocopied manual for this game and it shows the pinout for the gun sensor board should be:

Pin 1: -12v
Pin 2: +12v
Pin 3: Sensor out.
Pin 4: GND.

When measuring my cabs molex output at the gun sensor it is reading:

Pin 1: 0.02v
Pin 2: 0.02v
Pin 3: +12v
Pin 4: -12v

So clearly the wrong voltages at the wrong pins. So I trace the cables back from the gun sensor molex through the cab.

Pin 1 and 2: There is a grey cable that contains a white cable, with bare wire running along the outside of the white cable. At the gun sensor this bare wire heads off to join pin 1, and the white cable joins pin 2.
Pin 3: Blue cable. I didn't trace this one, I assume it leads to power supply as it reads +12v.
Pin 4: Pink cable, leads to the aux power supply and is being fed -12v.

I found this strange as it appears I have the correct voltages to the wrong pins at the molex connector, according to my manual.

Also strange is that pin 1 and 2 read 0.02v at the gun molex, but when traced back and seeing it join on to the gun sensor out pin on the sound board edge connector I measured this and it was about +4v. I can only think the white cable (pin 2 on the molex) is meant to join to the gun sensor and the bare wire is GND.

I pulled the cover off a spare op wolf gun I have and it has the same wiring colors in the same spots on the molex inside, even with the grey cable with white cable and bare wired etc.

So if anybody can help me with the following questions that would really help:

Q1) When your op wolf cab is on, what voltages are showing at the gun sensor pinout on the sound board edge connector?

Q2) At your gun sensor molex in the gun itself, do you have pink, blue, and a grey cable with white and bare wires connecting to the molex pins, and if so what pins do each connect to?

Q3) If someone out there has a jap Taito op wolf cab, can they confirm the above for me as well to see if there is a difference between the US cab wiring, and the Jap cab wiring?

Thanks for any assistance.

hi
i have the samen problem no bullits are registert on the screen when firing :-(

but when i look at my gun the wires are different so it seems like, so you have to turn the connector
is that possible ?

it wil look like this

-12vc 12v sensor out earth

the white cable is sensor out ,en the other is earth( this are two cables in one wire... grey color)
when i put a multimeter on the white cable en the earth there is a 0,21 volt
i dont know ,of this is the correct voltage ??

when you rip off the connector on the gun pcb there's a 5,2 volt , with the multimeter on the white en earth cable

but stil no counting when you fire bullits

Your post just made my head hurt.

There is plenty of posts on the forum discussing the no shots registered on the screen. I suggest you use the search function and do some reading. This topic has been discussed time and time again. OW is one of the most problematic games EVER!!!! I own one so I know first hand the headaches I've had.

hey silvereagle
you got a working opwolf

can you tell me the voltage whats on the white wire from the gun??
behind the coindoor you can find the connector
i messure 0,20v on the white wire ?? is that right

opwolf is not working
things i have done

monitor brightness up
cables en connectors check
bad solderjoint on the motherboard resolder
resolder the gun pcbboard

but no registration at all

it seems like the 0.20v on the white wire is not the right voltage :-(

Have you made sure all your voltages are 100% aside from that white wire? I haven't had a chance to measure my cab, sorry. Make sure the AUX board measures 13V and your 5V is averaging 5.1 or 5.2V. Voltages are everything with this game.

Good luck.

all the voltages are present en good i double check them
the 5volt line is about 5.2v en meassured on the motherboard ,not on the powersupply

one strange thing the 12v and -12v supply on the gunpcb is low at the lm311 en lm318 ic
no 12v or -12v but a 10,72v and -10,92v

in the manual the voltages on the gunpcb are 12v and -12v maybe this is the problem??

i trace the white wire, after the connector it is a red wire and follow the red wire
it goes to the soundboard and from there trough the flat connector, to the motherboard
and it is ending by a 74f74n flipflop ic

The manual must be wrong, the screened cable is for the optical sensor signal output.
I does not sound like the issue here, but several times my gun would stop working or be intermittent because the power connector from the little power board had come off.
It gets pulled out if you pull the draw out far enough.

when i fire a rocket on the top right i see the rocket explode ;-) only on the topper right side
this is happend when i turn the potmeter on the flyback at max, and the brightness all up

maybe i got a bad monitor or a flyback on its end :-(

can i change the monitor with a tv with scart ?, or will the gun not work on a 19" regular tv ?

First thing is to try to see if the gun and light are working correctly.

i replace every cap on the board with new one
put the power on and .....

only a red screen dissapeers, no blue or green colors only red
with a little white stripe above in the screen

i try to turn the pots on the neckboard
but this wont work at all
later i turn the screen on and off, and now i get a very bright white screen with no picture at all :(
but when i take a screwdriver and wiggle the neckboard the white screen falls back into red colors only

a trace on the neckboardprint was broken

so the monitor is working again :)

but no .... the gun is still not working :-(

can someone give me the power output on the white wire please !!
is it arround 0,20volt ??

The gun gets its power from the sound board. R7, an inductor and a cap. The connection to the main pcb is through the ribbon cable (pin 15 I think) and the edge connector on the sound board.

Can you post a pic of the wire you need the voltage of and I can measure mine.

the sp3ml is not a opto thats giving any light
it is reciving only at a very low voltage
so it is not traceble with a camera

I bet if you point a camera at a working one you will see a small blue light dot and a blue light ring around it.

I will also bet that if you do the same to a working one without the sound board connected it will show nothing.

So you see a light when you put a camera into the lens?? ,i see nothing trough the camera when i look into the gun( maybe my board is broken)

And the white wire i am talking about, you find it when you follow the wires from the gun pcb
And The first connector (behind the coindoor) have a blank wire, and right next to it you will find the white wire(This wire change to red/white and goes to the soundboard) when you meassure the voltage on the white wire i get 0.20volt
