I have several sets of Operation Wolf I have been working on, off and on. To keep things simple I started working on just the sound boards. I have several that are just dead no sound of any kind. If I rub my finger on the first pin or two on the ribbon connector (at the bottom board) I get sound out the speakers and I can watch the dac on the scope. One board (of the 5) has sound but no speech or sound effects. Just the music and a pause where the words "Operation Wolf" should be on the title screen.

One or two of the boards I get no sound when I do the rub test but I can see the dac respond to the finger rub test, probably the amp but no. When I rub the pot for the amp that produces sound.

Now just so you know:

I have a working cab for testing in and have one working set (my golden set) so power and connections are correct.

Any thoughts ideas>??

I have a logic probe and scope. I am just getting frustrated so taking a break. I don't like getting mad, big green and ugly well uglier.

I am thinking the custom mixer chips but I want to verify the sound is making it that far.

Welcome to my world. I've always presumed the problem was in the custom chips.
I have three boards and I can't get one to produce all the sounds properly.

Well if you find that the problem is the DAC or the YM2151 I got em.

I am looking for the 384 khz small blue crystal right now.
