I have an operation thunderbolt that the sound comes and goes. I bought another pcb and it arrived doa. Hopefully I can use the two boards to make one good one. The sound comes on for about 1 second then goes out for 1 second then back one. If I turn the volume down low it will stay on for for about 3 seconds and then cut out. I tried changing the caps and the power supply but it is still doing it. Any help would be appreciated.

Anyone got any ideas?

I just finished getting mine up and going.
I did find that one of the two auxillary power supplies (2 pcb's mounted to the right front of the drawer) control sound. I believe it was the one on the left of the two.
Check for corrosion and bad connections on the solder side of the boards.
Outside of that, I really don't know as I never did find a board schematic on it.
Make sure the main board connector is clean (I used a pencil eraser to clean them up)too.

Oh, also there are two places to adjust the sound. Two pots on the main board and then on the coin door, just in case you didn't see that. At least on mine it was.

I assumed the sound was controlled by the switcher. I'll check the other PS tonight. I hope that's it.

That was it! Thanks man. It just had a blown fuse. Sound is working 100%. Now I have vertical lines on all of the men. I changed all of the ROMS but they are still messed up. Any ideas on that?

Glad the sound is going.
The monitor question may be best posted under the monitor section to receive more replies.
Are you seeing vertical lines all over the screen?
Could be the monitor board just need to be recapped. That's what I had to do to mine.

Found the cause of the vertical lines. It wasn't all over the monitor. It followed each moving character. It turned out to be chip #B67 04. I swapped every chip and that was the last one. Fortunately it fixed the vertical lines, but now I am missing the speech. I guess I'll hit it again tomorrow. Almost have it back to 100%. Couldn't have done it without your help though. Thanks a million.
