Hey gang-

The other night my Operation Thunderbolt's monitor just shut off. Everything else on the game was still fine (audio, marquee, buttons). I popped the back off & saw that the monitor's fan was barely moving and making a soft "click-click"... I turned the power off and reached in near the fan and it was extremely hot on the metal parts around the fan. Aside from replacing the fan, I need to troubleshoot what failed in the heat so I can replace it. Any guidance or suggestions on what/where to check first (and so on) would be great. I'm hoping it's something simple like a fail-safe that pops if (when) there's an overheat.

I pulled the monitor out...

Here's the fan I'll be removing...

This was the metal part that was extremely warm... (the silver/grey parts)

Thanks!

First off, if you haven't recapped the monitor board, do it. Looks like the caps are original. Then blow all the dust out of the fan, but you may have to replace it anyway if it not getting up to speed.
That should do it.
