Getting no recoil on guns. Gun coil checks good, replaced an open diode on one gun but the other was OK.
Traced coil wires back to main board and it terminated into one of two transistors that I can't read the numbers on.
All other game functions seem to be working blind as monitor is out also.
Anyone know what part,if there is one, that typically goes out when the gun recoil quits working?

Continuing on in the mean time to verify PS voltages and try to map out the traces to determine what other parts may be involved.

Thanks

First, check the settings, as there may be an option to shut it off. Sometimes they do that so that operator's can still run the gun without worrying about a bad coil burning up or damaging the rest of the game...

Thanks, I will have to get the monitor up and working first for that I guess. I did review the dip settings on the main board and nothing there for the guns. Guess I'll move on to working on monitor issue now...

i took my guns apart trying to figure out why the recoil wasnt working. both guns, one wire was off. soldered back a wire and both guns work now.

I also took mine apart 1st hoping for something similar, but it wasn't that easy.
All voltages appear good from the supply as well.

Just following up, found that someone had installed the diode across the coils backwards. Reversed them and now they work fine.

I also have a problem with the recoil in the player 1 gun (the player 2 gun don´t work at all at the moment). When I turn on the machine it works just as it should, but after about 5-10 minutes it fades and suddenly goes dead, only giving a few weak shakes now and then if I´m lucky. Anyone experienced the same problem?

there are 2 small boards in the bottom drawer of the cabinet, one for each gun...they have fairly large capacitors on them that go bad

Also, If I remember correctly, as the game is no longer in my garage, that it should be easy to check by swapping the boards around. Also check to make sure the diode does not have any reverse leakage to it if you have them on your gun coils.

I know this is a moldy oldie... but I have a similar issue.

I have 2 recoil boards with 1 cap (35v and 4700uf) and nothing on the bottom.

I have 1 recoil board with 1 cap (25v and 4700uf) and 1 diode + 1 resistor on the bottom.

None of these work.

I have 1 recoil board with 1 big cap (25v and 4700uf) and 1 small cap, 2 fuse holders and nothing on the bottom. This one works. The second cap/fuse holder aren't used with what is actually wired to it. (At least I don't think it is.)

Can someone tell me what should actually be in here? (In termes of caps and stuff soldered to the bottom of the boards.)

All of the PCBs are the same (same traces), but different caps and stuff on them. (The 2 cap PCB does list a different model number.)

Also, what is the diode/resistor suppose to be for? Since it is 1 out of 4, I am guessing someone added these?

Thanks!

Any ideas? I think I am going to order replacement caps tonight (25v 4700uf as that is the working one) with another order I am already placing.
