Operation "Baby Pac-Man Rescue" is underway. We added this to The Arcade Wichita nearly 6 years ago and the playfield was disintegrating so a vinyl decal overlay was applied over the original playfield. Unfortunately, the playfield should have been completely sanded and cleared before the overlay was applied. It was not. After 6 years of the playfield continuing to disintegrate under the overlay, it got to the point where something had to be done. So it was pulled from the floor, brought home, and the work began.
Started with completely rebuilding and adjusting the K4800. That was no problem. It's looking brand new again. Then it was time for a full playfield swap. Picked one up from CPR and completed the swap in a couple days. Had a few gremlins to work out afterward, but it is back to working perfectly. All parts replaced are as follows...
-) Brand new playfield from Classic Playfield Reproductions
-) Complete removal of wiring, harnesses, and hardware over from the old playfield
-) Full new drop target set with new springs
-) New drop target reset coil
-) New flipper bats
-) Full flipper rebuild including EOS switches and coil stops
-) Full new plastics kit
-) New red posts
-) Plastic post washers under all the new posts
-) New decals for the spinners
-) Full new LED kit
-) New nylon nuts for the plastics
-) Full cleaning and waxing
-) Mylar installed over the loop area in the back to prevent future wear
-) Full new rubber kit
-) Needs a new glass bezel but unfortunately, I'll have to replace that later because the only vendors I can find are out of stock. CPR won't have any until around May, so I'll replace the bezel at that time. I'll touch this one up as best as I can until then
-) New marquee is on order (this one is de-laminating/coming away from the glass and flaking off like the bezel)
Now I have to pull the playfield back out and begin completely fixing up the cabinet. It's not in too bad of shape, but will need completely sanded, painted, new art, and all that stuff. Will get all that done this weekend and finish this up. Will post the final product when it's done. Stay tuned!
