i finally opened the SUBS that i picked up a couple of months back. i was nervous as to what i might find since the game has sat bound in a card board box since its birth back in the 70's. to my delight it was cosmetically beautiful.......from the large marquee to the coin box. all is perfect and clean like the day it was built. very cool! i still haven't plugged it in yet. 2 of the fuse holders had broken and i need to figure out to fix.

Thats insane... what a rare treat...

1. did they really use that plastic banding material back in the 70's ?

2. Did you plug it in and fire it yet? Any special steps you have to take to fire up something thats been in a box that long? Or just plug it in and give her a rip ?!

3. CAn you video it when you start it up for first time... be alot of interested people here if you could post to you tube...

the banding material was not plastic.

i haven't fired it up yet. there are 2 broken fuse holders that i need to replace. since i am a complete idiot with this kind of stuff it might take me a while to figure it out. i read the operation/service manual and will follow all "game inspection" tips before i finally plug it in. i can't friggin wait.

yes.....i plan on documenting the first time i plug the machine in and turn it on. i will definately post it on youtube. i took some vid yesterday of the game.......

It is amazing that anything as big and expensive as an arcade machine still exists ~30 years later in NIB form. Who spends a couple/few thousand dollars on something the size of a refrigerator, and never even opens it?

My friends got 3 NIB and 2 that he opened, they are very sweet! Cngrats and enjoy! A lot of the NIB games came from a couple warehouses in Canada a few yrs back.

Maybe a little paranoid but make sure the room temperature isn't super cold when you fire up the electronics for the first time or there's a chance the components can go into thermal shock. Given something that old that has never had electricity through it, you might want to bring indoors, let it reach room temp, before firing up.

very cool story....fun game too.

that is where this came from. the guy that i got it from had 6 of these at one time and numerous other NIB games. joust cocktails, robotorn cocktails........amazing

Did you buy the game from Johns Jukes aka Flippers. I remember reading about how they came across a warehouse full of coin op equipment still in the box.

nope...i bought it from a guy in seatlle. he knew the guy in canada where all the nib games came from (not john). jonh ended up buying most of the games and sold them under the "time travel warehouse" name.

Absolutely amazing! That cabinet looks so cool. Never played the game before. But, man, that is stunning! Congrats on your find.

I can't believe you waited even a minute to open that box up!!
