OK ... so truth be told it is really just some space in my garage that I cleaned up and converted for a couple of my spare games, but we have taken a liking to calling it "The Annex". ;D
Here is the story of how the annex came to be:
I recently made a deal to pick up the Smashing Drive you see against the wall in the photos below.
It was supposed to go in the loft-cade, so I called up my buddy Nate and we started to lift it up the stairs. Let's just say that sucker is heavier than it looks ... and awkward as hell! We somehow managed to get it all the way to the top of the steps and decided to take a quick rest before making the turn into the open loft area. Well ... we must have both decided to rest at the EXACT same time, because the bitch started to slip and before either of us could do a thing about it Smashing Drive was headed down an entire flight of stairs. With Nate beneath it !!!!
Those of you that know Nate know he is a big dude, but there was no way he was stopping this machine from pushing him down the steps. How a human can manage to push a 400 pound arcade cabinet and backpedal down a flight of stairs at the same time is out of my realm of comprehension, but somehow he managed to do it! Smashing Drive followed him all the way down the stairs and crashed on the tile floor HARD pinning Nate against the door. I was certain both he and Smashing Drive were going to go through my wife's custom glass door panes, but somehow he managed to stop that from happening. Thank God ... that may have been the end of the loftcade as we know it.
I was scared ..... bad. I really thought he was hurt down there, until I heard my friend's voice yell up the stairs "You better have some Tequila!". Still shaking, I headed down the stairs and lifted the beast off of him. He looked OK, but his hand was already starting to swell where it had been slammed into the door jamb. We headed to the kitchen for a towel full of ice and the Tequila that he desperately needed.
After about 3 shots each of Jose's finest, we wheeled the Smashing Drive into the garage and the idea for "The Annex" was born.
Hope you enjoy the photos!
