Picked up a difficult to find game (Crossbow) yesterday. (Thanks Gary aka billybob).

Drove it home from southern Iowa to Minnesota...
Stopped off at the soon to be opened 'Rusty Quarters Arcade and Museum' to deliver a pair of games...
Drove the rest of the way home (20 miles) without issue UNTIL the very last turn...
the turn into my driveway...
I turned, I looked in the left hand rear view mirror and did not see my Crossbow...
HOLY SHIT !!!
I look in the right hand rear view and I see her sticking out like the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Can you imagine? 350 miles of highway driving, manuevering through downtown Minneapolis (to make the delivery), and after all of that... turning into the driveway I almost lost her.

Good thing she was triple strapped. The only thing that was holding it up were 2 black straps across the deck, on the bezel side of the crossbow.

Sheesh.

Decided not to risk the stairs up to my apartment.
She spent the night in the garage.
(That is a beastly cabinet to unload by yourself!)

I lay those bad boys down when transporting. Crossbow weighs 315 lbs and is top heavy.
Scary.........

Nice work. Wish I coulda come with you down there. Haven't been on a roadtrip in a long while.

Ha. I would have appreciated the company, that's for sure.

On a side note, Sage (morbidboy) has a nice little set up going with Rusty Quarters. Looks like it'll be fun. It's right next door to Bryant Lake Bowl just east of uptown.

Looking forward to the opening.

Yeah... it was OK when it had a Marble Madness strapped in next to it.
I was afraid to lay it down because I had no help to pick it back up when I got home.
Next time I will have to think it through a little better.
I have moved several hundred games over the years but must've been luckier than I was good. ;-)

Consider this: 'Lesson Learned'

LOL this is like me vs. the guys at work. I strap in a 5-pack of nitrogen cylinders (~200 lbs. each, in a fabbed steel frame) and it will travel for thousands of miles without even ratcheting up. They do it and I'm lucky to get up to 70 MPH before a strap falls off or I see it 'hopping' around in the bed of the truck.

SECURING CARGO - you fail it. :D

EDIT: Nice score though btw.

Heh, if it had been like this on the road it would have been interesting to see the recation of other drivers. I bet you wouldn't get too many people trying to pass you on that side.

Aw....MAN!! You drove all the way to meet up with billybob and didn't tell me??? Cripes there's like 15 things that I want from him that can't be shipped (cabs, bezels, etc etc) I wish I would have known you were going!!!!

*grrrrrrrr*

I'm just gonna put this out there again.... if anyone heads south through IA again.... PLEASE let me know. I'll help pay for your gas :)

Oh yeah, by the way - nice get. ;)

Did Gary know? He's the one who came up with the idea of hauling back the other games for Sage. Oh well... if I do it again (not likely soon now that winter is creeping up on us) I'll check with you all.

Crap, crap. Grrrrrrr

He has a really nice Data East cab I wanted for my Karate Champ. And a Bezel. And a marquee. And a CPO. And a Ms Pac Bezel.

And some more stuff.

:(

Crossbow is a sweet game. Love those Exidy shooters. Rusty Quarters should put some of those in there. Color me jealous, I would love a Crossbow.

Yes on all counts. I haven't seen an Exidy shooter locally since I have been collecting (I certainly could have missed one or two) so it was worth the cost and the effort.

I have the multi kit so that will make it even better.

The 'crossbow' itself is just so cool looking!

Nice pickup! You will enjoy that multi exidy kit! I'm still not bored with mine as long as I owned it :)
